Tiziana Barton

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I understand that it might be a daunting task to look for a therapist if it is for yourself or for a loved one, but it takes courage and strength to ask for help, and all that is required is to simply make that first step. I am available to answer any questions, it is very important that you feel a connection with the therapist of your choice from the start for the process of therapy to be a successful one.

I am an experienced therapist and a register member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). My Integrative approach gives me a wide range of resources and interventions to use with clients based on different theoretical approaches. My general philosophy is an holistic one that sees the client as a whole, encompassing mind, body and spirit.

We are all born with a core self that is loving and creative. During childhood years this inner self can get lost because of the way we are parented or due to the effects of traumatic life experiences. Conditions in adulthood such as depression, anxieties, panic attacks, addictions, and relationship difficulties can often be seen as symptoms of the disconnection from our core self. Losses such as the death of a loved one, divorce, redundancy, illness etc. can lead to further difficulties. Counselling is a powerful way to allow you to work through these issues, to reconnect to your inner self, and help you with the healing process. I will support you to gain new self-awareness and perspectives on your situation in a non-judgemental way.

The core aim of my therapeutic work is the creation of a confidential, safe and empowering relationship based on mutual trust and respect. The main healing lies in the ongoing relationship itself and it is this that makes therapy a unique experience for both the therapist and the client. When working with clients I have found that developing “unconditional presence” (simply being with what is) best supports the way that the client is held in awareness. This is essential to any healing and growth, and I believe it to be true that it is the quality of awareness that heals within the therapeutic relationship.

Everyone can benefit from counselling: in most cases even the simple act of being listened to in an empathetic and non-judgemental way is a very powerful experience that in itself can be life-changing for many people.

Some benefits of counselling:

– To lead a more authentic, productive and fulfilling life
– To reconnect with your own creativity and inner resources
– To bring new awareness and understanding to your own situation and life circumstances
– To break the cycle of unhelpful and destructive patterns of behaviour, and understand how these
have impacted or continue to impact on your life
– To have better relationships with family, friends and colleagues and understand how past
relationships have influenced and may still influence you
– To remember or learn about your dreams and what inspires you

Counselling is generally seen as short term or problem focused, while psychotherapy is more in-depth work over a longer period of time, and can be helpful if you want to explore what life means to you, or reflect on important feelings and experiences.

I look forward to hearing from you.

About

Searching for a therapist can feel daunting whether it is for oneself or for a loved one, and Tiziana Barton recognises the courage it takes to ask for help. She encourages that the first step is often the most important one and is available to answer any questions so that a strong connection with a therapist can form from the outset – a connection she sees as central to successful therapy.

Tiziana is an experienced therapist and a registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) with 19 years of professional practice. Her integrative approach provides a broad range of resources and interventions drawn from different theoretical models, and she works from a holistic philosophy that considers the whole person – mind, body and spirit.

She believes people are born with a core self that is loving and creative, and that this inner self can become obscured by parenting experiences or traumatic events in childhood. Conditions that emerge in adulthood – such as depression, anxieties, panic attacks, addictions and relationship difficulties – are often understood as expressions of that disconnection from the core self. Losses like the death of a loved one, divorce, redundancy or illness can also create further challenges. Counselling offers a way to work through these issues, to reconnect with that inner self and to support the healing process, and Tiziana aims to help clients gain new self-awareness and fresh perspectives in a non-judgemental way.

The central aim of her work is to build a confidential, safe and empowering relationship founded on mutual trust and respect, because she views the ongoing therapeutic relationship itself as the primary vehicle for healing. In her practice she has found that developing “unconditional presence” – simply being with what is – best supports how a client is held in awareness. She regards this quality of awareness within the therapeutic relationship as essential to healing and growth.

Tiziana believes that most people can benefit from counselling, and that even the simple experience of being listened to with empathy and without judgement can be transformative. Counselling is often short-term or problem-focused, while psychotherapy involves more in-depth work over a longer period and can be appropriate for those who want to explore the meaning of their life or reflect on significant feelings and experiences. She looks forward to hearing from anyone considering taking that first step.

Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

Many people ask whether online therapy can genuinely make a difference. For a range of common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges and navigating life changes – online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions. One of the main advantages is flexibility. People can connect with their therapist in the format that suits them best, whether via video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging, which can make it easier to fit therapy into a busy life. Therapists offering online work are licensed professionals, and clients may change therapists at any time if they want a different fit. Online therapy can therefore provide accessible, adaptable support while maintaining the professional standards expected of therapy practice.
