Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hi! Welcome to my page! I can’t wait to meet you and learn what brought you to BetterHelp! I received my Masters degree in 2012 at the University of Phoenix and am close to completing my ASSECT certification in sex therapy through The Buehler Institue. I have worked with many different populations over the passed 12 years, and most of my experience has been helping individuals, couples, and families overcome obstacles related to anxiety, depression, personality disorders, eating disorders and major mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I have also helped a lot of individuals and couples with sex related problems (non-traditional relationships, kink, painful sex) and relationship obstacles.
I began working for the the county in which I reside in 2013 where I assessed people to determine if they met criteria to be detained due to being a danger to themselves, a danger to others, or gravely disabled (unable to care for their basic needs due to mental illness). I soon began working as part of a treatment team on the psychiatric unit where people detained were provided crisis stabilization and I now manage this unit. I have provided private practice services both in person and online for the past 3.5 years. Outside of managing an inpatient unit, I love utilizing my skills and experience to help increase optimism and passion toward developing a more “glass half full” perspective, no matter what the obstacle or circumstance. Feeling better is not necessarily possible overnight, but with the right tools, therapeutic chemistry, and work, better IS possible! Can’t wait to meet you 🙂

Lynnetta Hawkins is a California-based marriage and family therapist who draws on 12 years of clinical experience to support individuals, couples, and families. She earned her master’s degree in 2012 from the University of Phoenix and is close to completing her ASSECT certification in sex therapy through The Buehler Institue.
As a licensed practitioner in California, Lynnetta holds a Marriage and Family Therapist credential (license number 93110). Over the past 12 years she has worked with a wide range of populations, focusing on anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, eating disorders, schizophrenia, and addiction. Beginning in 2013, Lynnetta worked for her county assessing individuals for involuntary detention when they appeared to be a danger to themselves, a danger to others, or gravely disabled, and she later joined the psychiatric unit treatment team. She currently manages that psychiatric unit while also maintaining a private practice, providing both in-person and online therapy for the past 3.5 years.
Outside of her administrative and clinical responsibilities, Lynnetta focuses on helping people cultivate greater optimism and passion for life, encouraging a more “glass half full” perspective. She acknowledges that feeling better does not always happen overnight, but believes that with the right tools, therapeutic rapport, and committed work, improvement is possible.
Online therapy can be an effective option for many common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and navigating life transitions. For these types of issues, remote therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care.
One major benefit is flexibility – clients can choose the format that fits their routine and comfort level, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to maintain regular sessions despite busy schedules or geographic limitations.
All participating providers are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they seek a different fit. For many people, online therapy offers an accessible, practical way to engage in meaningful clinical work while balancing other life commitments.
