Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
My name is Laura and I am a fully qualified and insured integrative therapist and I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
Sometimes it can feel as if we have no one to listen to us, or that our own problems can feel too big or too small to be able to seek help. Quite often others may listen to respond without a real understanding about what is going on for you. Being able to talk to a trained counsellor gives you the opportunity to feel listened to and to be understood. Having trained in both Psychodynamic and Humanistic models, I incorporate both elements of these approaches in my work with clients. In my own private practice, I have also had the privilege in working with clients from the LGBTQ+ community from a range of differing age groups.
I have recently completed a certificate in adoption counselling, so I am able to support all those affected by adoption and special guardianship orders. Therefore, I am able to work therapeutically with birth parents, adoptive parents, adoptees, and others in the family who might have also been affected by issues of adoption. Such issues that have I have a keen interest in working with are attachment patterns/styles, shame, loss and personal identity – be it personal or cultural.
I am warm, empathic, and will offer you the confidential and safe space that you need to explore your issues as you embark on your own personal journey of gaining more understanding about yourself and your own needs. Our first session will enable us to think about how we can work together. It will be an opportunity for you to ask questions about how I work and whether my style of counselling suits you. Within this session, we can explore the main issues that you wish to work on and how therapy can help you in this process.

Laura Howard is a fully qualified and insured integrative therapist and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). She has five years’ experience and integrates training from both psychodynamic and humanistic approaches to inform her practice.
In her private practice she has worked with clients from the LGBTQ+ community across a range of ages. She has also completed a certificate in adoption counselling and is able to support birth parents, adoptive parents, adoptees and other family members affected by adoption or special guardianship orders.
Her areas of interest include attachment patterns and styles, shame, loss and questions of personal or cultural identity. Laura aims to be warm and empathic, offering a safe space in which people can explore these concerns and begin to understand their own needs.
The first session is used to consider how therapy might proceed, to ask questions about her approach and to explore the main issues the client wishes to address. From that starting point she and the client can decide together how ongoing work could help.
