Kirsty Black is a neurodivergent-affirming counsellor practising in the United Kingdom. She is accredited with the NCPS and holds a BA (HONS) in Counselling – a bachelor’s degree with honours in counselling. She is currently undertaking an MSc in Child and Adolescent Mental Health with an incorporation into family issues and continues to engage in ongoing professional development.
With 4 years of experience providing therapy and 16 years working in support-based roles, Kirsty has offered counselling through charitable organisations, schools, universities, and private practice. She supports people with neurodiversity, anxiety and depression, loss and bereavement, family and couples issues including conflict resolution, identity and addiction concerns, among other matters.
Kirsty works with adults, adolescents, children, couples and families, and she offers online, telephone and digital text therapy. She draws on an integrative approach that combines tools from different modalities so the work can be tailored to each person’s needs.
Creative and practical methods are available when helpful – for example art, play therapy techniques, nesting dolls and other expressive options – alongside approaches such as CBT, Transactional Analysis and Person Centred talking therapy. Kirsty aims to bring respect, sensitivity, compassion and empathy to the therapeutic relationship and to support and empower people as they take steps toward a more fulfilling life.
For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or navigating life changes – online therapy has been shown to work as effectively as traditional in-person sessions for most people. It can be a practical and impactful way to address everyday mental health and relational challenges.
One of the key benefits is flexibility. People can choose the format that suits them best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging – making it easier to fit therapy into busy schedules and different lifestyles.
All therapists offering online work are licensed professionals, and if someone feels a different fit would be better, it is possible to switch therapists. Online therapy can offer an accessible route to consistent support while still allowing people to find the therapeutic relationship and approach that meet their needs.
