About Me
Life is a journey of twists and turns, hills and valleys, good times, and not so good times.
My name is Jacquelyn Mentor and I have experienced many difficult times such as the loss of a child, parents, and husband. At one time I was a divorced and remarried, which made me a single parent for a few years. I was a care taker for both my parents, plus I am a breast cancer survivor. I am survivor, because of my faith, family , friends, and professional help.
I have a B. S. and M.S. degree in Psychology. I also earned an Ed.D degree in Counseling Psychology. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Supervisor. My experience includes over twenty decades of working with families in the areas of domestic violence, child abuse, marital counseling, developmental disabilities, school issues, parenting skills, widowhood, anger management, behavioral issues, conflict resolution, relationship problems ,trauma, and crisis issues.
My goal is to listen, be non-judgmental, supportive, be sympathetic , empathetic , be respectful, and provide a warm safe confidential environment. I will also provide you with some tools in the form of helpful resources, because psychoeducation is very important. The therapeutic relationship will be genuine, friendly, relaxing, calm, and professional. Overall, I am trustworthy and have a passion for helping people.

Dr. Jacquelyn Mentor brings a personal understanding of life’s highs and lows to her work as a therapist. She has endured significant losses, including a child, her parents, and a husband, and has navigated divorce, remarriage, and a period as a single parent. She also served as a caretaker for both of her parents and is a breast cancer survivor, a journey she attributes to her faith, family, friends, and professional support.
She holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science, and an Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Mentor is licensed to practice as a mental health counselor in Florida and is qualified to supervise other counselors. She has provided therapeutic services for 22 years, drawing on long experience with individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
Her clinical work has covered a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, relationship and family conflicts, trauma and abuse, depression, addictions, grief, intimacy and parenting issues, anger management, self-esteem, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, and ADHD. She has also worked with domestic violence, child abuse, developmental and behavioral issues, school-related problems, widowhood, and workplace challenges.
