Dr. Jacquelyn Mentor brings a personal understanding of life’s highs and lows to her work as a therapist. She has endured significant losses, including a child, her parents, and a husband, and has navigated divorce, remarriage, and a period as a single parent. She also served as a caretaker for both of her parents and is a breast cancer survivor, a journey she attributes to her faith, family, friends, and professional support.
She holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science, and an Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Mentor is licensed to practice as a mental health counselor in Florida and is qualified to supervise other counselors. She has provided therapeutic services for 22 years, drawing on long experience with individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
Her clinical work has covered a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, relationship and family conflicts, trauma and abuse, depression, addictions, grief, intimacy and parenting issues, anger management, self-esteem, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, and ADHD. She has also worked with domestic violence, child abuse, developmental and behavioral issues, school-related problems, widowhood, and workplace challenges.
Dr. Mentor strives to create a warm, safe, and respectful therapeutic space - one that is nonjudgmental, supportive, and empathetic. She places value on listening carefully and on offering practical tools and psychoeducation to complement therapy. Her style is genuine, calm, and professional, and she is committed to helping people move forward with trust and care. Her clinical approaches include cognitive therapy, client-centered therapy, solution-focused work, and Christian counseling.
