Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Searching for the right counselor? Don’t settle for just help…get BetterHelp! I am excited to explore with you how to reach your goals and start on the path to leading the life that you desire. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas and graduated from Texas State University with a Master of Arts in Community Counseling and a focus in individual counseling and marriage & family therapy.
When I first meet with a someone new, I approach the session from a person-centered modality of therapy, listening, getting to know the person, and building a safe and trusting environment where they can be all of who they are without judgment. From this place, I assist in determining what they want out of life and how we can work together to help them overcome their current problems and achieve their goals and outcomes. At this point I may employ a variety of therapeutic techniques including neuro-linguistic, cognitive-behavioral, gestalt and family systems techniques, among others. My overall approach is integrative and follows the lead of the client based on their goals, outcomes, and comfort.
I have worked in the field of counseling since 1994. I began my career working with severe and persistently mentally ill individuals who had been in and out of the Texas State Mental Hospital system. I had the pleasure of working with clients and their families in order to allow the individuals to live out in the community and no longer reside in the hospital system. After successfully working with over sixty individuals and families, I decided to pursue my lifetime goal of working with those who have experienced abuse/neglect. I began focusing my career towards working with individuals who have experienced physical, sexual, and/or family violence. I have counseled individuals with severe depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain, phobias, breaking bad habits, family system issues, suicidal ideation/self-harm, marital issues, lgbtq issues, and general relationship issues as well as substance abuse, sexual addictions, and eating disorders. I have provided both crisis counseling as well as on-going counseling for multiple issues.
It is my overall goal for every person I counsel to feel understood while experiencing progress, success, and fulfillment. Since we set well-defined outcomes together, clients usually report that they have reached their goals and followed a road map to get to their outcomes during the counseling process.
I look forward to meeting you and walking down the path to a better life with you!

Chana Rivka Hersh is a licensed professional counselor practicing in Texas with 25 years of experience helping people move toward healthier, more satisfying lives. She earned a Master of Arts in Community Counseling from Texas State University with a concentration in individual counseling and marriage and family therapy.
Early in her career, beginning in 1994, she worked with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness who had been served by the Texas state hospital system. In that role she partnered with clients and their families to support community-based living, successfully assisting more than sixty people and their families to transition out of institutional care.
After that work, she shifted her focus to supporting people who have experienced abuse or neglect, including physical, sexual, and family violence. Her clinical experience includes counseling for severe depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain, phobias, habit change, family systems concerns, suicidal ideation and self-harm, marital and relationship issues, LGBTQ matters, substance use and sexual addictions, and eating disorders. She has provided both crisis intervention and ongoing therapy across these areas.
Her therapeutic style is grounded in a person-centered stance that emphasizes listening, building a trusting nonjudgmental environment, and following the client s lead. From that foundation she collaborates with each person to clarify what they want from therapy and to design a plan to reach those goals. She draws on an integrative set of tools – including neuro-linguistic techniques, cognitive-behavioral strategies, gestalt approaches, and family systems work – selecting methods that fit the client s goals and comfort level.
Her overarching aim is for every person she counsels to feel understood while experiencing progress, success, and fulfillment. By setting clear, shared outcomes at the start of work, clients commonly report that they achieve their goals and follow a practical road map through the counseling process. She looks forward to meeting new clients and walking alongside them on the path to a better life.
Many people wonder whether online therapy really helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or managing life transitions, evidence shows that therapy delivered remotely can be as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most people.
A major benefit of online care is flexibility – clients can connect in the way that suits them best, whether that is a video visit, a phone session, live chat, or messaging within an app. That flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and to maintain continuity of care during life s changes.
Licensed professionals provide online therapy, and individuals are free to switch therapists if they need a different fit. For many people, remote therapy offers an accessible, practical option to address everyday emotional and relational concerns while working toward meaningful progress.
