Jamie Cargill

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Hello, my name is Jamie and I am a qualified counsellor in the UK with over seven years of professional work experience. As a counsellor I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, LGBTQ+ related issues, relationship issues, & coping with grief and loss, however, these are just some of the areas of counselling that I have experience in working with, as every client raises different issues and challenges I feel it would be impossible to list them all.

As a counsellor, I provide warm, confidential and non-judgemental short and long-term counselling for individuals from all walks of life. I am down-to-earth and passionate about my work. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Counselling provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns. As your counsellor, I will help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others.

I realise that taking that first step towards help by contacting a counsellor can be daunting and may cause feelings of anxiety, particularly if you haven’t had counselling before. The reality is that we all need help at some time, so I would encourage you to take that first step if you can.

If you decide to start counselling, my aim will be to help put you at ease in the first session. We will discuss key aspects of the therapeutic relationship, for example, maintaining confidentiality, as well as exploring in more detail what it is that has brought you to therapy. If you know what you would like to achieve out of counselling we will explore that too. If you don’t know, that’s absolutely fine; clients don’t always explicitly know what they want to achieve. Sometimes it’s as simple as ‘feeling normal again’. If there are lots of different things going on in your life, we can look at what you might want to work on first.

Counselling does not claim to be the answer to all difficulties, but it does offer you the opportunity to explore different ways of looking at your life. Counselling can be a way of giving yourself time and space to discover more effective and rewarding ways of living or coping. As your counsellor, I will listen to you in a private and confidential setting and offer you my full attention, respect and a commitment to supporting you in developing your own solutions, insights, awareness and answers to the issues that are important to you.

About

Jamie Cargill is a qualified counsellor in the United Kingdom with over seven years of professional experience. Jamie has supported people with stress and anxiety, LGBTQ+ related matters, relationship challenges and coping with grief and loss, while recognising that each person brings a unique mix of concerns that cannot all be listed.

Jamie provides warm, non-judgemental short- and long-term counselling to individuals from a range of backgrounds. Approachable and committed to the work, Jamie treats people with respect, sensitivity and compassion, and adapts conversations and treatment plans to each person’s individual needs.

Counselling with Jamie offers a space to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours with a trained professional, with the aim of developing better understanding of oneself and of others. Jamie understands that contacting a counsellor can feel daunting, especially for those new to therapy, and encourages taking that first step when possible.

In an initial session Jamie aims to help clients feel at ease, discuss key aspects of the therapeutic relationship such as confidentiality, and explore what has brought them to therapy. If clients have specific goals these will be explored; if not, Jamie will help identify priorities and decide where to begin.

Counselling is not presented as a universal fix, but as a way of looking at life differently and finding more effective ways to cope. Jamie listens in a private setting and offers full attention, respect and a commitment to supporting clients as they develop insights, solutions and greater awareness around the issues that matter to them.

Is Online Therapy the Right Fit for Your Needs?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can genuinely help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or coping with major life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions. One of the main advantages is flexibility – clients can connect with their therapist in the format that feels most comfortable, whether by video call, phone session, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility can make it easier to fit therapy into daily life. All therapists who provide online sessions are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch to a different therapist if they would prefer a different fit.
