Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am a UK based therapist with 16 years of professional work experience.
I offer weekly sessions via video, telephone, or chat. I currently have availability for Thursday during the day, and do have a limited number of evening appointments available too.
Please note, I do not offer fortnightly or ad-hoc sessions as I feel to make the most from Counselling, weekly sessions provide structure and consistency in the beginning. If, after several sessions, we feel it would be good to reduce sessions, we can talk about how best to move forward with this.
What I Offer
My therapeutic approach is tailored to you as an individual. Whether you’re new to therapy or seeking support for challenging emotions, I’m here to support and guide you. Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, needs, emotions, aspirations, and personal boundaries. I offer online sessions but can also do telephone sessions is this would be better for you.
A Judgment-Free Zone
How often do you feel truly heard without fear of judgment? I strive to create a safe space where you can be authentically yourself. Here, you can freely explore your innermost thoughts and feelings, knowing they’ll be met with complete acceptance. My goal is to see and hear the real you, while helping you connect more deeply with yourself.
Our Unique Journey
Your therapy journey is as unique as you are. Each session is tailored to your current state and needs, and I am led by you as to what you bring into the space each week.
Experience
I have experience in helping clients, adults, teens and children, with a wide range of issues, and some examples of my experience includes:
– Working in a GP practice seeing clients for depression, low mood, anxiety, stress, lack of confidence, eating problems, lack of life direction, divorce, loss, and supporting people with parenting skills.
– Working in schools supporting children with everyday worries, exam pressure, and school avoidance. Also supporting parents with parenting skills and how to support their child.
– Working in Women’s Services supporting families through miscarriage, stillbirth, fertility problems, and termination of pregnancy.
– Working in Cancer Connections helping people navigate loss and grief as an individual or as a family.
– Supporting victims of crime and people bereaved through murder and manslaughter (trauma).
– Helping adult clients navigate their own Childhood Emotional Neglect and helping them to make sense of it, put boundaries in place and move forward in a positive way.
– Looking at your own attachment style and how this may impact friendships and relationships.
I primarily trained in Person Centred counselling and CBT but am able to tailor my sessions using a variety of counselling techniques and Life Coaching
I have experience working with adults and children who are Neurodivergent, especially with developing social skills and emotional regulation. I am considerate of the needs of Neurodiverse clients and their sensory needs whilst working together on an online platform.
As part of the LGBTQIA+ community myself, I am able to offer a safe space to explore your life within this area.
I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

Cheryl McDonald-Tuckwell is a UK-based therapist with 16 years of professional experience, offering weekly sessions by video, telephone, or chat.
She currently has daytime availability on Thursdays and a limited number of evening appointments. She does not offer fortnightly or ad-hoc sessions, preferring weekly work at the start to provide structure and consistency; if, after several sessions, it seems appropriate to reduce frequency, she will discuss how best to move forward.
Her approach is tailored to the individual client. Whether someone is new to therapy or seeking support for difficult emotions, Cheryl works alongside them to explore thoughts, needs, feelings, aspirations, and personal boundaries. Sessions are led by what the client brings to the space each week and can be delivered online or by telephone depending on preference.
Cheryl aims to create a non-judgmental space where people can be themselves and feel heard. She focuses on helping clients build a deeper connection with themselves while offering acceptance, sensitivity, and compassion.
Her experience spans work in a GP practice supporting adults with depression, low mood, anxiety, stress, lack of confidence, eating problems, lack of life direction, divorce, loss, and parenting skills. She has worked in schools supporting children with everyday worries, exam pressure, and school avoidance, and advising parents on how best to support their child. In Women’s Services she has supported families through miscarriage, stillbirth, fertility problems, and termination of pregnancy. She has also worked with Cancer Connections to help individuals and families navigate loss and grief, and has supported victims of crime and people bereaved through murder and manslaughter with trauma-related work.
Cheryl helps adult clients understand and move forward from Childhood Emotional Neglect, including setting boundaries, and explores attachment styles and their impact on friendships and relationships. She trained primarily in Person-Centred counselling and CBT and adapts her work using a variety of counselling techniques and life coaching approaches.
She has experience supporting neurodivergent adults and children, particularly with social skills and emotional regulation, and is mindful of sensory needs when working online. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Cheryl offers a welcoming space to explore issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity. She tailors dialogue and treatment plans to meet each person’s specific needs with respect and compassion.
