Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am a qualified, person centred, therapeutic counsellor, with an eclectic approach. I have extensive experience in working with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse and relationship issues. I recognise that everyone processes experiences individually, and in different ways. I have worked extensively with clients who are experiencing feelings of low self esteem and self worth. I support clients in developing a strong internal foundation for living well, happily and healthily.
I am familiar with the extensive, complex and often traumatic nature of loss in all its forms, and that it may involve complicated, difficult, conflicting feelings and emotions. I recognise that many life experiences, depression and other issues also involve aspects of loss. I
have worked extensively in bereavement support.
I also have specific training in supporting victims of sexual and domestic abuse. I support clients in coming to terms with difficult life events and and working on healthy coping strategies for difficult times.
My aim is to support, listen to, and truly hear clients, and to “walk with the client on their journey” (Carl Rogers). I offer empathy, and a non- judgemental presence for clients, through 45 minute sessions, over a period of weeks, or as a client prefers.
Person centred therapy does not seek to focus on one particular area of a clients’ experience, or provide advice or solutions, as it recognises that each individuals’ experience is completely unique. What might work for one person may not work for another. Therefore the approach is designed to provide an environment of support in which the client feels empowered to, if they wish, explore their feelings and behaviours, and develop their own inner resources and healthy coping strategies.
I am, however, also trained in mindfulness and relaxation techniques, and occasionally these skills provide useful tools to for clients to use.
I am a Registered Member of the BACP.
I look forward to speaking with you.
Take good care,
Liz Pentz.
