Dr. William Cook is a licensed counsellor practising in the United Kingdom with 18 years of experience supporting individuals and couples through a broad range of difficulties. He works with stress and anxiety, addictions, trauma and abuse, intimacy-related issues, depression, relationship and family problems, grief, eating and sleeping concerns, parenting challenges, anger, self-esteem difficulties, career matters, bipolar disorder, and coping with life changes.
He offers tailored support for neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD and Autism, and provides coaching and assistance for compassion fatigue. Dr. Cook also has experience supporting the LGBT+ community and works with couples and families. Christian counselling is available on request.
Across his career he has worked with people from many backgrounds through organisations such as The Magdalene Project and Maundy Relief Counselling Service. In addition to clinical work, he has written four books on addiction and advocates for mental health education.
Outside of therapy he enjoys spending time with his family, keeping active, and connecting with nature, which he says help him stay grounded. He is a member of the professional bodies MBACP and MNCPS.
Dr. Cook offers flexible online therapy sessions to make it easier to prioritise mental health. Availability is Monday to Friday - early morning to evening, and Saturday and Sunday - early morning, afternoons and evenings.
Many people ask whether remote therapy can really help. For a range of common concerns - such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes - online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person work for most cases.
A major benefit is flexibility - clients can choose the mode of contact that fits their life, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This makes it easier to access support without rearranging a full day around an appointment.
Each therapist offering online sessions is a licensed professional, and it is possible to change therapists if a different fit is needed. For many people, the combination of proven therapeutic approaches and the convenience of remote sessions makes online therapy a practical and effective option.
