Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I want to commend you on taking this first step to better your mental health. Taking that first step requires a lot of courage and is no small feat. My name is Shannon, I graduated with my Master of Science in Social Work in 2012 and have worked in various settings, assisting adults and youth with their struggles. My clients have been refugees, adults, children, teenagers and families.
I have years of experience working with clients who are dealing with trauma and stress. I enjoy helping others navigate how their trauma has affected them and how to work through its impact. I find that road looks different for everyone, some clients find peace talking extensively about what happened, others process their past by looking at how it might be impacting their present life and going from there. I encourage clients to think outside of the box when it comes to managing their symptoms. Some clients find great relief in exploring ways to manage their symptoms by doing small tasks that they can easily fit into their daily routine.
I utilize a practical approach to therapy. We all can come up with great ideas to better ourselves but if we don’t have the time or energy to accomplish them, then that is not a good fit for us at present. I do not encourage clients to do things they cannot accomplish on their own. You are the best resource for knowing what will work for you and what will not. I am here to follow your lead but also to provide some general direction based on the goals you wish to accomplish. I typically utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing Techniques, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Mindfulness Techniques.
My hope is to equip you with the tools you need to better your life. My ultimate goal is to always work myself out of a job, so that you no longer need my assistance to manage your symptoms. It might take a short time, it might take a long time, but you are here to give it time and I have no doubt that you will find success!

Shannon O’Donnell acknowledges the courage it takes to begin work on one’s mental health and encourages those first steps toward change. She earned a Master of Science in Social Work in 2012 and has spent the past decade working with adults, youth, families, and refugee populations across a variety of settings in Tennessee.
Shannon brings extensive experience supporting people coping with trauma and stress. She helps clients explore how past events may influence their current lives and works alongside them to process and reduce that impact. The path forward looks different for everyone – some people find relief in talking through events in detail, while others focus on how their history shows up in present-day patterns and practical coping strategies.
Her approach to therapy is practical and goal-oriented. Shannon encourages manageable, realistic steps that fit within a person’s daily life rather than asking for changes that feel unattainable. She leans on evidence-based methods including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing techniques, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness practices to support clients in building useful skills.
Shannon is a licensed clinical social worker in Tennessee and aims to equip clients with tools to improve their lives. Her ultimate goal is to help people reach a point where they no longer need regular therapeutic support, whether that happens quickly or over a longer period of work.
Many people wonder whether therapy delivered online can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and navigating life changes, online therapy has been found to be as effective as in-person care for most people.
One major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the way that fits their life best, choosing video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule or to engage from different locations.
All therapists are licensed professionals, and you have the option to change therapists if you feel another clinician would be a better fit. Online therapy can offer practical, accessible support for many everyday mental health concerns while allowing clients to find a format and provider that work for them.
