Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I qualified in 2011 and have since worked with clients with a wide range of concerns, for example trauma (including PTSD), grief, relationship issues, opioid and alcohol addition, parenting issues, self-harm and suicide, depression and anxiety.
My counselling style is engaging and collaborative, gaining insight into your struggles and helping you to move forward from them. I recognise how difficult it can be to begin the counselling journey, and I aim to make it as easy as possible for you, with the view that everyone deserves to feel respect and to feel understood in their time of need.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I am qualified in a variety of counselling and psychotherapy techniques and approaches, and am able to choose the best one(s) for you based on what you say and how you feel, so that together we can make a personalised treatment plan to reach your desired outcomes.
I use a collaborative psycho-educational approach, which means I aim to make sessions conversational enough to make you feel comfortable, asking you about yourself and what is happening; then helping you to gain insights and put things into perspective, facilitating your understanding of issues in a way you haven’t been able to do before, and teaching you about the therapies I use so that you can take the knowledge with you and apply it into the future.
My main approaches are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which focuses on you and your inner beliefs & behaviours and Transactional Analysis (TA), which focuses on your relationships with others. I find the two combined are highly effective in helping people achieve improved outcomes. I also use Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and a range of other therapies I am qualified in.
I am equally experienced in in-person and online/remote sessions, but since Covid I only work online because I am finding that clients really find it easier to work from the comfort of their own surroundings at a time and place they know they won’t be disturbed. They also really seem to appreciate not having to add time and travel costs onto the time and costs of the therapy itself.
At the beginning of each person’s counselling journey, I always feel that I am reaching out a helping hand to offer support, guidance and empowerment. I really hope that you will take my hand and together we can get you back on track.

Michelle Copley qualified in 2011 and has since worked with people facing a wide range of concerns, including trauma – such as PTSD – grief, relationship difficulties, opioid and alcohol addiction, parenting challenges, self-harm and suicidal thoughts, depression and anxiety.
Her counselling style is engaging and collaborative, aimed at helping clients gain insight into their struggles and move forward. She understands how hard it can be to begin therapy and seeks to make that first step as manageable as possible, believing that everyone deserves respect and to be understood during times of need.
As an integrative counsellor, Michelle is trained in a variety of counselling and psychotherapy techniques and selects the approaches best suited to each person. Together with the client she develops a personalised treatment plan focused on achieving the outcomes they want.
She uses a collaborative psycho-educational method, keeping sessions conversational while exploring what is happening in a client’s life. This approach helps clients gain new perspectives, deepen understanding of their difficulties, and learn about the therapies used so they can apply that knowledge beyond therapy.
Her primary methods include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which concentrates on inner beliefs and behaviours, and Transactional Analysis (TA), which examines relationships with others. Michelle finds the combination of these approaches effective in producing positive changes. She also draws on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) along with other therapies she is qualified in.
Michelle has experience with both in-person and remote work, and since Covid she offers sessions online only, as many clients find it easier to attend from their own surroundings at a time and place where they are unlikely to be disturbed. Clients also value not having to add travel time and costs to their therapy.
At the start of every counselling journey she views herself as offering a helping hand – providing support, guidance and empowerment – and she hopes clients will accept that hand so they can work together to get back on track.
