Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
MY EXPERIENCE
I am a family oriented therapist/counsellor, I have over 10 years’ experience working with clients in the NHS, a women’s centre, a hospice, a bereavement agency, a perinatal mental health charity, a cancer support centre and a men’s counselling service. I have been trained in a wide range of therapeutic approaches including CBT, person-centred and phenomenological, and I will draw on these to provide the most effective therapy for you.
In addition to the issues listed under ‘What I can help with’, I also work with life transitions; making choices and negotiating change; and with non-traditional relationships.
My approach is existential, which does not judge emotional suffering but looks instead at how you uniquely experience the world. I will help you explore your life experience in terms of your relationships; your identity; and your values, choices and sense of purpose.
Whether you come at a time of distress with a particular difficulty, or have reached a stage when you want to deepen your understanding of yourself, I offer a safe and supportive space where you can begin to make sense of whatever is troubling you.
If you are ready, I am ready to work with you and empower you through the journey of change and recovery.

Janet Kwegan is a family-oriented therapist and counsellor based in the United Kingdom with over 10 years’ experience working across healthcare and community settings. She has supported people through roles in the NHS, a women’s centre, a hospice, a bereavement agency, a perinatal mental health charity, a cancer support centre and a men’s counselling service.
She has training in a range of therapeutic approaches and will draw on whatever is most helpful for each person. Her formal training includes CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), person-centred work and phenomenological approaches, which she combines to create an effective, tailored way of working.
Janet’s practice is informed by an existential outlook. Rather than judging emotional suffering, she focuses on how each person uniquely experiences the world. She helps people explore their lives in relation to relationships, identity, values, choices and sense of purpose.
She works with a wide range of difficulties, including relationship and family concerns, trauma and abuse, grief, depression, stress and anxiety, addictions, LGBT and intimacy-related issues, eating and sleeping problems, parenting and anger, self-esteem, career questions, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue and ADHD. She also supports people negotiating life transitions, making difficult choices, and those in non-traditional relationships. Janet works with clients from diverse backgrounds and across different faiths, beliefs and political views, and she identifies as a therapist of colour.
Whether someone seeks help in a moment of distress or wants to deepen understanding of themselves, Janet offers a safe and supportive space to make sense of what is troubling them. If a person is ready to begin, she is prepared to work alongside them through change and recovery.
Many people wonder whether talking to a therapist online really helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or navigating life changes, research and practice indicate that online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person work.
One of the main benefits is flexibility – people can connect in the format that suits them best, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. That flexibility can make it easier to fit therapy into a busy life and to maintain continuity of support.
Therapists who offer online work are licensed professionals, and if someone feels the fit is not right they can choose to switch to a different therapist. For many common issues, online therapy provides a practical and effective route to support and change.
