Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Welcome!
My name is Michael Cole (James) and I am a licensed mental health professional. I offer my services here as a part-time contractor. I hold multiple degrees including a Master’s in Social Work and multiple licenses to practice as an independent clinician (LICSW) in various states.
My approach to services is eclectic in nature, which is to say that I shift my approach to meet your needs, whatever those may be. I do not believe in “cookie-cutter approaches” to this kind of work as each person is unique as are their needs and goals. I strive to be culturally informed and desire to provide competent support to all persons in need.
You deserve a clinician that you can trust and who is focused on your specific needs. You deserve someone who will hold space for you, who will not cast judgement, and who will work with you to help you determine what the best path forward looks like. These things are what I strive to provide to every client I see.
I am very excited to meet you and to get started on addressing the concerns/issues that brought you in to see me. Please, don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
PLEASE NOTE: I do not offer “messaging sessions” and due to my limited availability I mandate that clients only book sessions that they can keep as no-shows, late cancels, and late appearances will result in my having you find another provider to work with who can accommodate such things.
Thank you for reading up on me.

James Cole is a licensed mental health professional who provides services as a part-time contractor in Minnesota. He brings 10 years of clinical experience to his work and holds multiple graduate degrees, including a master’s degree in social work.
He uses an eclectic, client-centered approach, adapting methods to meet each person’s unique needs and goals rather than relying on one-size-fits-all solutions. James strives to be culturally informed and aims to offer competent, respectful support to people from diverse backgrounds.
Clients can expect a nonjudgmental clinician who will hold space, collaborate to clarify priorities, and help identify the most constructive path forward. James values clear agreements about scheduling and availability; he does not provide messaging-only sessions, and because his availability is limited he asks clients to book only sessions they can keep. Repeated no-shows, late cancellations, or consistently late arrivals may mean he will ask a client to seek another provider who can better accommodate their needs.
He is eager to begin addressing the concerns that bring people to therapy and welcomes questions from those considering work together.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For a wide range of common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and life transitions – remote therapy has been found to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care.
One of the main benefits is flexibility. People can meet with a therapist in the format that best fits their schedule and comfort level, whether that is a video appointment, a phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to maintain consistency and integrate care into daily life.
All participating clinicians are licensed professionals, and clients who feel a different fit would like to try another therapist may change providers. Online therapy can be a practical option for those seeking reliable, professional support without the need for in-person visits.
