About

Cynthia Prince brings 38 years of clinical experience working with diverse populations across correctional, residential, and outpatient settings. She has supported mandated clients, inmates of both genders, adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system, and people in maximum- and medium-security prisons, as well as youth in residential care and children in outpatient programs.

After more than 30 years of service to the State of New York, she recently retired from that role and now provides on-call psychiatric evaluations in the emergency room and offers therapy at a local family medical center, where she sees nearby college students and members of the community. She is licensed in New York as a clinical social worker (license number 079322-01) and has extensive experience addressing a wide range of concerns.

Her work spans many conditions and challenges, including bipolar disorder, PTSD and trauma, anxiety, attachment and abandonment issues, ADHD, loss and grief, schizophrenia, histories of abuse and self-injury, self-esteem struggles, parenting and relationship difficulties, anger and personality disorders, neurodevelopmental and autism spectrum disorders, OCD, and depression. She also works with addictions and supports clients through coping with life changes.

Cynthia approaches each person without relying on labels, treating everyone with respect, professionalism, and compassion. She primarily uses cognitive behavioral approaches and tailors treatment to each individual’s unique needs. She often brings humor into sessions to make therapy more approachable and even uses a virtual emotional support pet named Major when appropriate and when allergies are not a concern.

Seeking help can feel daunting, and Cynthia encourages people to take that first step. She invites prospective clients to reach out to find the right fit and to begin the process of feeling better.

Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can genuinely help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been found to be as effective as traditional in-person care for most situations. One major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the format that fits their schedule and comfort level, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options makes it easier to integrate mental health support into a busy life. Therapists and licensed professionals offering online care are trained to provide treatment through these different channels, and clients may choose to switch providers if they feel a different fit would be better. For many people seeking support with everyday concerns and transitions, online therapy is a practical and effective option.
