Dr. Andreia Santo

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a versatile and caring human being, and a chartered and registered Clinical and Counselling Psychologist Practitioner. I qualified as a psychologist in 2008 and did my training in Portugal (‘Licenciatura’) in Psychology of Education and Rehabilitation, which is academically equivalent to the British Clinical Psychology doctorate at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of Algarve University in Faro, Portugal. I did a full-time year placement in an internationally known Early Intervention Service in the city of Coimbra called Projecto Integrado de Intervenção Precoçe, where I provided psychological assessments and interventions to children and parents/carers, and participated in different projects promoting social inclusion and emotional health awareness.

I have undergone professional placements in two other services, namely in the National Health System where I worked with all age groups for 9 months (Health Centre of Faro), and in a council service (Junta de Freguesia da Se) for 13 months.

In Portugal, I did further post-graduate training in Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy for 1 year which is accredited by the Portuguese Association of Behavioural Therapy and by the European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies.

I moved to the UK in 2010. I completed a 2 years part-time post-graduate diploma in Family and Systemic Theory at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust in London. Since 2010, I have been employed by the NHS in different Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The NHS work ended in June, 2024.

I am now focused on working on her independent research project on the subject of Unconditional Love Science. I work remotely mostly, for Better Help and privately.

I am passionate about life, psychology, science, nature, ancestral history, art, music, travelling and culinary. I honours the principle of unconditional self-love and wishes to help my clients remember that they are innately perfect and meant to feel joyful and free at all times. I am working on my innovative clinical approach on my own currently and I am keen to promote my work in varied settings.

Thank you for reading, have a lovely day.

Is Online Therapy the Right Fit for Your Needs?

For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or adjusting to life changes – online therapy has been found to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most people. Research and clinical experience support its effectiveness for these types of issues.

One of the main benefits is flexibility. People can choose the format that suits them best – video consultations, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging – making it easier to include therapy in a busy schedule or when travel is difficult.

Therapists providing online care are licensed professionals, and clients can request a different clinician if they need a better fit. Online therapy can be a practical and accessible way to receive professional support while keeping therapeutic standards in place.
