Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Accredited Mental Health Social Worker | Integrative Mental Health Practitioner
Jo Sultana is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). She holds a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Counselling and Human Services, where she specialised in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
With over 15 years of experience across public and private mental health services, Jo has supported adolescents, adults, parents, and older adults with a wide range of emotional, psychological, and lifestyle-related challenges. She has been working in private practice since 2016 and brings extensive experience in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, burnout, and women’s emotional health—including hormone-related concerns such as PCOS.
Recognising the powerful connection between physical health, gut health, and emotional wellbeing, Jo expanded her studies and is also a Registered Integrative Health Practitioner Level 2 (IHP2). She is professionally registered with the International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT) and integrates complementary, evidence-informed strategies into her clinical work. This enables her to offer a truly holistic approach that considers the interplay between the mind, body, and lifestyle factors contributing to mental health.
Jo’s therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practice. She draws from a range of psychological modalities to tailor treatment to each individual’s needs, including:
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) – to explore thought patterns, beliefs, and behaviours contributing to distress
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) – to deepen emotional awareness and help clients understand their emotional responses
Narrative Therapy – to explore personal stories and shift unhelpful patterns that may shape identity or lived experience
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based approaches – to support emotional regulation, values-based decision making, and resilience
In addition to traditional therapeutic modalities, Jo offers an integrative mental health pathway, combining psychological support with functional medicine tools. She is trained to utilise functional assessments—including the Organic Acids Test (OAT) and Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)—to identify biochemical imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, inflammation, or toxin exposure that may be influencing mood, energy, stress tolerance, or cognitive functioning. This integrative approach allows Jo to create personalised treatment plans that address both emotional and physiological factors contributing to wellbeing.
Jo is passionate about supporting individuals to gain clarity, feel deeply understood, and build practical, lifelong tools for emotional health. Her approach empowers clients to develop self-awareness, shift unhelpful patterns, and move toward a balanced and meaningful life.
