Josephine Sultana is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). She holds a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Counselling and Human Services with a specialisation in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
With 15 years of experience across public and private mental health services, Josephine has supported adolescents, adults, parents and older adults with a wide range of emotional, psychological and lifestyle-related concerns. She has worked in private practice since 2016 and has particular experience treating depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, burnout and women’s emotional health including hormone-related issues such as PCOS.
Josephine recognises the connection between physical health, gut health and emotional wellbeing and has further training as a Registered Integrative Health Practitioner Level 2 (IHP2). She is professionally registered with the International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT) and integrates complementary, evidence-informed strategies into her clinical practice to provide a holistic approach that considers mind, body and lifestyle factors.
Her therapeutic style is warm and collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practice. She draws on a range of psychological approaches to match treatment to each person’s needs, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to examine thinking and behaviour patterns, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to increase emotional awareness, Narrative Therapy to explore personal stories, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) together with mindfulness-based techniques to support emotional regulation and values-based choices.
In addition to talk-based therapies, Josephine is trained to use functional assessments such as the Organic Acids Test (OAT) and Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) to identify biochemical imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, inflammation or toxin exposure that may be affecting mood, energy and cognitive functioning. This allows her to build personalised plans that address both emotional and physiological contributors to wellbeing.
Josephine aims to help people gain clarity, feel understood and develop practical lifelong tools for emotional health. Her work focuses on building self-awareness, shifting unhelpful patterns and moving toward a more balanced, meaningful life.
