Janine Hodge

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Hi, I’m Janine.

I’m a qualified and experienced Integrative Psychotherapist (CPCAB Level 5) based in the UK, with over seven years of clinical practice. I founded Courage2Be Counselling Services in 2019 [Now Courage2Be Coaching & Psychotherapy] and I love what I do.

As a parent and relationship coach I offer a blend of psychotherapy and coaching to help individuals who are struggling with anxiety, low mood, self-doubt, and emotional overwhelm—often rooted in the fear of showing up as their true, authentic selves.

I’m also an experienced Counselling Lecturer, and Clinical Supervisor, and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

MY APPROACH
It seems that I have an ADHD superpower for identifying the patterns that are showing up for client’s subconsciously. This means we can ‘deep dive’ into understanding what’s going on and why, whilst dialing down all of the unhelpful noise and chaos that keeps you in those negative and intrusive thought loops.

My work also draws from a powerful blend of approaches, including:

Self-Actualising Personality Theory

Attachment Theory

Transactional Analysis

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Internal Family Systems Theory

Bowen’s Family Systems Theory

Psychodynamic Therapy….and

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

This integrative model allows me to tailor support to meet your unique needs—so we can work in a way that feels safe, empowering, and effective for you.

MINDING THE GAP: THE ROOT OF EMOTIONAL STRUGGLE
Many of the clients I work with feel stuck between two versions of themselves:

The one they show the world today

And the one they deeply wish they could be

That space in between—’the gap’—can feel overwhelming. It’s often filled with shame, self-criticism, anxiety, low self-esteem, overthinking, loneliness, and fear.

When we don’t “mind the gap,” we feel misaligned with who we truly are. Boundaries weaken. Confidence fades. And we lose touch with our sense of identity and purpose.

WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?
We’re all shaped by our upbringing, relationships, and life experiences.
Trauma, rejection, abandonment, bullying, unmet emotional needs, or even well-meaning caregivers who couldn’t fully see or support us—these experiences condition us to dim our light, shrink ourselves to stay safe, or rebel and disconnect.

Over time, we adapt. We survive. But our true self-expression gets lost.

HOW I CAN HELP
I support you to close that gap—to reconnect with your authentic self and create a life that feels purposeful, aligned, and emotionally fulfilling.

Together, we’ll explore:

The current symptoms or challenges you’re facing

The patterns and beliefs behind them

How these patterns were formed—and how to shift them

Healing old wounds so they no longer shape your present

From this space, you’ll be able to integrate a new ‘Inner Master Blueprint’ of beliefs, behaviours, and responses that support your wellbeing, confidence, and relationships. Think of it as an emotional and mental system reboot—a fresh start built on clarity, compassion, and empowerment.

A TAILORED APPROACH JUST FOR YOU
As an integrative therapist and coach, I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. I blend different therapeutic approaches to create a style of support that works for you.

And I know it can feel like a minefield trying to figure out what therapy or coaching is right for you. I’m here to help guide you through that process, in a way that feels grounded, human, and real.

READY TO BEGIN?
Taking that first step toward change takes real courage and I hope that you are proud of yourself for contemplating this transformational journey. If you’re ready to focus on positive change, heal what’s been holding you back, and create a life that feels true to you—then I’m so excited for us to get started. 🙂

I offer a calm, safe, and non-judgmental space where you can grow at your own pace, with the support and tools you need to thrive.

Please feel free to reach out. I’d be honoured to support your journey.

Warmly,

Janine

About

Janine Hodge is a qualified and experienced Integrative Psychotherapist (CPCAB Level 5) practising in the United Kingdom with over seven years of clinical experience. She founded Courage2Be Counselling Services in 2019, which now operates as Courage2Be Coaching & Psychotherapy, and continues to combine psychotherapy and coaching in her work.

As a parent and relationship coach Janine supports people who are coping with anxiety, low mood, self-doubt and emotional overwhelm, often when those difficulties are linked to a fear of showing up as their authentic selves. She is also an experienced counselling lecturer and clinical supervisor, and is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Janine describes having an ADHD superpower for spotting subconscious patterns that keep people stuck, which allows her to explore what is happening beneath the surface while reducing the unhelpful noise that fuels intrusive thought loops. Her practice draws on an integrative mix of approaches, including Self-Actualising Personality Theory, Attachment Theory, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems Theory, Bowen’s Family Systems Theory, psychodynamic therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This blend enables her to tailor support to each person’s particular needs so therapy and coaching feel safe, effective and empowering.

She often works with the sense of being caught between the person someone shows the world today and the person they wish they could be. That gap can bring shame, self-criticism, anxiety, low self-esteem, overthinking, loneliness and fear. Janine explores how those patterns and beliefs formed through upbringing, relationships and life experiences – including trauma, rejection, abandonment, bullying or unmet emotional needs – and supports clients to heal old wounds so past experiences no longer dictate the present.

Working together, she helps clients investigate current symptoms, identify the beliefs and patterns behind them, understand how those patterns developed and create lasting shifts. Janine supports people to integrate what she sometimes refers to as a new ‘Inner Master Blueprint’ of beliefs, behaviours and responses that promote wellbeing, confidence and healthier relationships. She offers a calm, non-judgmental space where individuals can progress at their own pace with practical tools and compassionate guidance.

Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or navigating life changes – online therapy can be comparable to traditional in-person sessions in terms of effectiveness. It is a practical option for addressing these everyday challenges.

A key advantage of online therapy is flexibility – people can connect in the way that suits them best, whether by video call, phone session, live chat or in-app messaging. That flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life and to maintain continuity of care when schedules or circumstances change.

All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and if someone feels they need a different fit they can switch therapists at any time. Online therapy can offer a convenient and adaptable route to accessing professional support from qualified therapists when it is needed.
