Lisa Ward

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

It takes tremendous strength and courage to reach out and finally say – something’s not working. It can be easy to put aside our doubts, worries, traumas and behaviours, and let our busy lives take the lead.
Yet as you know, these feelings don’t just disappear, and one day something builds up within us that makes us say – ‘ENOUGH, I need to deal with this.’
Naturally, our first step is to reach out to friends, family, or colleagues, and although we respect their opinions, do we truly allow ourselves to be vulnerable within these relationships?
Are we completely honest about our feelings, or do we often water things down as to not worry or upset those we love? More importantly, how often do we sense that they’ve really listened or understood us?
That’s where a counsellor like myself can help. Counselling creates a safe space where you can talk openly and honestly about you, and what you need, without worrying about judgement or damage to a relationship.
Now, you may be thinking – how can just talking bring about change?
And my response would be – when was the last time you felt truly heard?
Yet in the context of our professional relationship, I will hear you, as you will too, allowing you to slowly make sense of your difficulties.
And that genuinely is my philosophy of counselling and why I’m so passionate about supporting others; because when we feel truly heard and understood, we have the ability to survive, renew and grow.

About

Lisa Ward recognises how hard it can be to admit that something in life is not working and to take the step of asking for support. She understands that worries, doubts, past traumas and unhelpful behaviours are easy to set aside while life remains busy, yet over time these things can build until a person decides they must be addressed.

In her practice she offers a space where people can speak openly without feeling the need to protect others or tone down their experience. Lisa emphasises being truly heard within the therapeutic relationship and sees listening as central to helping clients make sense of their difficulties and start to move forward.

Alongside a private practice, Lisa has many years experience working within Domestic Abuse Services and consequently specialises in trauma-focused therapy. Her work is not limited to trauma, and she has supported people with a wide range of concerns.

Her formal training includes a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies, CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills, and Level 6 training in Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling with a trauma-informed approach. She also holds a BACP Certificate of Proficiency and is a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist. Additional continued professional development includes Trauma Informed Therapy, EKRCC Rape Crisis Training, BACP Working On-Line, Eating Disorders, Treating Anxiety Disorders, Understanding Self Harm, Treating OCD, Trauma the Brain and Recovery, Healing Toxic Shame, Supporting Male Victims of Domestic Abuse, Honour Based Abuse, and Working Therapeutically with Grief.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people question whether online therapy can genuinely help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and navigating life changes, evidence shows that remote therapy can be as effective as in-person work.

One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can choose the mode of contact that suits them best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which makes it simpler to fit therapy into a busy schedule and to engage in the way that feels most comfortable.

All therapists offering online sessions are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch therapists at any time if they feel a different fit would be more helpful. For many people, online therapy provides an accessible and effective way to begin addressing their concerns and to continue making progress over time.
