Heather Petcher

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a Person-Centred and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist with a degree in Humanistic Counselling Practice and my post grad in Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT). I have 8 years of working with people experiencing, but not limited to, depression, low mood, anxiety, low self-esteem, attachment and relational issues, trauma, grief and loss.

At the heart of my practice is the emphasis on building a warm, safe and empathic therapeutic relationship based on acceptance and trust within a non judgemental and nurturing environment. I offer a safe space for you to explore your emotions to what is happening, or what has happened in your life and how this is affecting you in the present. I believe you are the expert of you and have all the capabilities to find your own way through your problems with my support, to build confidence within and facilitate personal growth.

Life can be challenging and overwhelming at times, and sometimes we might need time to work through any issues that arise. We can work together to gain understanding, new perspectives and awareness, exploring to create healthier ways of coping with life, enhancing wellbeing and relationships. I feel very passionately about supporting and empowering you to come to your own conclusions and make any decisions or changes that feel right for you.

DIT is a 16 weekly session psychodynamic therapy developed specifically to treat depression. It identifies a pattern in your life created from difficult experiences in the past which can continue to affect the way we have and how we feel in the here and now. DIT provides a safe space for open exploration, talking about how you feel, how you see yourself in relation to others and how you see others, to gain understanding of what may be contributing to depression to allow for a better understanding of yourself. We can then look at making changes in how you may respond.

Please feel free to get in touch to find out more. We can discuss your concerns, any goals and how we might work together to address these.

Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) is a 16 weekly session psychodynamic approach developed specifically to treat depression. It helps identify repeating patterns formed from earlier experiences that continue to shape how someone feels and responds in the present. Within DIT there is space for open exploration of feelings, self-image in relation to others, and perceptions of others to build insight into factors contributing to depression and then consider different ways of responding.

Please feel free to get in touch to find out more. Heather is available to discuss your concerns, explore your goals, and consider how you might work together.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can genuinely help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.

A major benefit of online work is flexibility – clients can choose the format that fits their needs and lifestyle. Connections can be made through video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging, which makes it easier to attend sessions around other commitments.

All therapists offering online sessions are licensed professionals, and if someone feels a different fit would be better they can switch therapists at any time. For many people, the combination of demonstrated effectiveness and practical flexibility makes online therapy a helpful option to consider.
