Cynthia Cunningham

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I have been a licensed marriage family therapist in California for over 27 years. I am what some people would call a “wounded healer”, because I have been sober 35 years. I am also in recovery from co-dependency and love addiction. I believe anyone can change their life for the better, because I have changed mine for the better. If you love someone who does not love you back, I can help you STOP loving them and help you to start loving yourself. If you cannot say no, I can teach you how to say NO in a kind way and mean it.

In addition to the areas mentioned above, I can also help you to over come anxiety/panic and depression. I use cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy to help you to make the changes you want to make in your life. You are always in control of your therapy and you decide

I have been in the client’s chair, so I know first hand that it takes courage to begin the journey to a better life. You do not have to journey alone ; I will be your companion. All journeys begin with the first step. Take that first step today.

I would be honored to work with you.

She brings lived experience to her clinical work, including 35 years of sobriety and personal recovery from co-dependency and love addiction, which inform her empathetic, practical approach.

She supports clients who want to make meaningful changes, offering guidance to stop loving someone who does not love them back and to begin prioritizing self-respect. For those who struggle to set boundaries, she teaches how to say no in a kind way and mean it.

Cynthia’s clinical focus includes addictions, relationship issues, family conflicts, anger management, self-esteem, stress, anxiety, grief, intimacy-related concerns, eating and sleeping disorders, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, depression, coping with life changes, and ADHD. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy to help clients pursue the changes they want to make. Clients remain in control of their therapy and decide the direction of their work together.

Having been in the client’s chair herself, Cynthia understands the courage it takes to begin therapy and offers to accompany people on that journey. She invites those ready to take the first step to reach out and would be honored to work with them.

Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For a range of common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes – online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.

One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can connect with their therapist in the format that fits best for them: video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety of options can make it easier to integrate therapy into a busy life.

Each therapist available is a licensed professional, and clients may choose to switch providers at any time if they prefer a different fit. Online therapy can offer an accessible path to support for many common mental health and relationship concerns.
