Vanessa Richards is a UK-licensed therapist with 5 years of clinical experience. She has specialised training and professional background supporting survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence, having worked within government services for over two years to help people process trauma and tell their stories in a respectful and supportive way.
Before moving into counselling she qualified and practised as a therapeutic radiographer, treating people with cancer for more than seven years. That clinical experience gives her a practical understanding of the cancer treatment journey and informs her work with patients, family members, spouses and friends who are affected by illness.
Vanessa has worked for several years in both the NHS and the private sector, supporting people with depression, stress and anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma and abuse, motivation, self-esteem and confidence. She holds a Masters in integrative counselling and psychotherapy and uses that training to create an open, nonjudgemental space where feelings and thoughts can be explored.
Working in a relational, collaborative way, Vanessa aims to build a therapeutic relationship that supports each person’s needs. She identifies as a therapist of colour and as a Christian, and she offers therapeutic support across a range of life challenges. Vanessa recognises that reaching out for help takes courage and she is committed to accompanying people through that process.
