Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Wisconsin. I began my career in the area of addictions, working both with the patient and families of people with substance abuse problems. I have since expanded on that area and have extensive experience working with depression, stress and anxiety, relationship issues, grief and loss, chronic medical issues, caregiver and compassion fatigue,
I try to meet each person that I work with where they are at and help them discover their strengths and develop plans to assist with the changes they would like to make. It takes alot to reach out for help, and I want to make sure that I honor that and help people feel that they are not alone in their struggles.
Since I have been in the field for a long time, I have been trained in a multitude of treatment approaches but I have committed to staying current in the new ideas that are being used. I currently rely heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Acceptance and Committment Therapy. I incorporate education and homework to augment the time that we spend together. I also feel strongly that I need to practice what I preach and work on maintaining a healthy lifestyle myself. At this point, I am working primarily Wednesday through Friday 9 to 5, and 8 to 2 on Saturdays. If you need evening appointments, please look for a therapist with that availability.

Susan O’Connell is a licensed clinical social worker practicing in Wisconsin, holding state clinical social work licensure (license number 3011-123). She has worked in the field for 35 years, beginning her career in the area of addictions and supporting both people with substance use issues and their families.
Over the course of her career she has expanded her practice and now has extensive experience addressing depression, stress and anxiety, relationship and family conflicts, grief and loss, chronic medical concerns, caregiver and compassion fatigue, and other challenges. Her areas of focus also include LGBT concerns, trauma and abuse, intimacy-related and parenting issues, self-esteem, career difficulties, coping with life changes, addictions, and ADHD.
Susan seeks to meet each person where they are, helping them identify strengths and create practical plans for the changes they want to make. She recognizes how difficult it can be to reach out for help and works to honor that step so people do not feel alone in their struggles.
Throughout her long career she has trained in a range of treatment approaches and remains committed to staying current with new methods. She draws primarily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and she incorporates education and homework to extend progress between sessions. She also values maintaining a healthy lifestyle herself as part of practicing what she recommends to others.
Susan is currently seeing clients mainly Wednesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. If evening appointments are needed, clients may wish to select a therapist who offers evening availability.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and adjusting to life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care for most situations.
One major benefit is practicality – online sessions allow clients to connect in the way that fits their life, whether by video call, phone, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility can make it easier to keep consistency and make therapy a workable part of a busy routine.
Therapists providing online care are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they need a better fit. For many individuals facing common mental health concerns, online therapy offers an accessible and effective path to support and progress.
