Getting stuck in life can feel overwhelming, and I understand that beginning therapy can feel like quite a daunting process. Together we can work at a pace which suits you, in a safe space where the relationship of counsellor and client is at the core of the therapeutic process. Our sessions together will be private, and we will work in collaboration to gain a greater understanding of your experiences, feelings, behaviours, and needs.
I have four years experience practising as a professional therapist, and work as an integrative psychotherapist, which is both person-centred, and psychodynamic. Meaning that I am able to help you understand your feelings better, by exploring your past relationships and experiences with you. I believe that a sound understanding of these can help bring about healthy change and growth.
I studied Psychotherapy at The Mary Ward Centre, and Kingston College, London. I have experience working for the NHS (British National Health Service), English prison service, Student wellbeing centres, Shelter – Housing centres, The UK Criminal Justice system, Family health centres, General Practitioners, and Addiction centres.
Working together online
Mental health care has not always been readily available. Working with me online, you can work on your terms and at your own convenience. During my years of experience as a psychotherapist, I have adapted my practice to suit the needs of others, understanding that the demands of modern-day living can mean that time is precious to us.
I believe that it is important for people to receive the support they need in a place where they feel comfortable and safe and that this in itself can be therapeutic. Thanks to the ease of access that online therapy offers, you can get the kind of help you need, where and when you need it. By avoiding unnecessary travel time and costs, this needn’t impact on your day-to-day priorities.
Areas which I specialise in;

What to expect from your first session
I will ask you questions about your presenting concerns, as well as your history and background. Most likely, you’ll find yourself talking about your current symptoms or struggles, as well as saying a bit about your relationships, your interests, your strengths, and your goals.

Sam Cox is a United Kingdom-based integrative psychotherapist with four years of professional experience, working with people facing stress, anxiety, addictions, relationship difficulties, trauma and abuse, and depression. He offers a calm, collaborative approach, meeting clients at a pace that suits them and placing the therapeutic relationship at the centre of the work.
He practices an integrative model that blends person-centred and psychodynamic approaches, helping clients make sense of their feelings by exploring past relationships and important life experiences. Sam believes that understanding these patterns can support positive change and personal growth.
Sam trained in Psychotherapy at The Mary Ward Centre and at Kingston College, London. His background includes roles with the NHS, the English prison service, student wellbeing centres, Shelter – Housing centres, the UK Criminal Justice system, family health centres, general practitioners, and addiction centres.
Sessions are collaborative and tailored to each individual’s needs. Sam has adapted his practice to offer online appointments so people can access support on terms that suit modern life – reducing travel time and costs and allowing therapy to fit around day-to-day priorities. He works with clients who value a thoughtful, person-focused therapeutic process.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can genuinely help. For common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes – online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One of the main benefits is flexibility. Clients can connect in the way that feels most comfortable for them – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule.
Therapists who offer online work are licensed professionals, and clients can change therapists if they want a different fit. Online appointments also remove the need for travel and the associated time and costs, so engaging in therapy can be more compatible with everyday responsibilities.
For many people, being able to receive support from a place where they feel at ease helps make accessing therapy more achievable and sustainable.
