Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I’m an Integrative Psychotherapist with over 25 years experience of working with individuals and couples. I am also an Accredited Teacher of Mindfulness with over 30 years experience. I invite clients to use intentional awareness to examine the context of their lives including all aspects of their relationships.
In therapy we have the opportunity to frame issues of identity and purpose and to facilitate meaningful positive change in our lives – moving towards towards a ‘solution’.
The essence of my practice is ‘person-centred’ in that I am always led by the client’s needs and ‘issues’ as presented to me. In this way ‘therapy’ is always grounded in the trans-formative power of trusting and collaborative relationships.
My practice is also ‘trauma Informed’ in that our presenting problems are often linked to the underlying effects of prior/present trauma. Such trauma can be healed through ‘present-centred’ body awareness that may incorporate a mindful practice coupled with a reflective dialogue to reframe meaning and direction to our lives
The Mindfulness element of my practice is seen ‘merely’ as ‘intentional awareness’ which experience shows can be applied by degrees from moment-to-moment as an enabling agent to help us to see our patterns of ‘stuckness’ – at the heart of many problems – and to move beyond them. Intentional awareness harnesses the simplicity of our own present awareness to see patterns of thoughts and behaviour and to help us to embrace a ‘solution’ that we can envision.
My own experience has shown that our suffering through a myriad of life problems can act as a ‘prompt’ for us to examine issues of ‘identity’ and ‘purpose’. These can be of a Trans-personal nature and can also be transformed through our own awakening – through the gateway of a present-centred intentional awareness.

Michael James is an Integrative Psychotherapist with 28 years’ experience working with individuals and couples, and he is an Accredited Teacher of Mindfulness with over 30 years’ experience. He encourages clients to bring intentional awareness to the context of their lives, including the range of relationships that shape daily experience.
In therapy he offers a space to explore questions of identity and purpose and to work toward meaningful, positive change – moving step by step toward practical solutions. His approach is person-centred, which means the work is guided by each client’s priorities and the issues they bring into the room.
Trusting, collaborative relationships are central to his practice; therapy is understood as a joint process in which change emerges through connection. His work is also trauma informed, recognising that many presenting difficulties are linked to the effects of past or ongoing trauma. Healing is often supported through present-centred body awareness that can include a mindful practice alongside reflective dialogue to reframe meaning and direction.
The mindfulness element of his practice is described as intentional awareness that can be applied gradually from moment to moment. This simple, present awareness helps clients recognise patterns of stuckness that underlie many problems and to begin moving beyond them. By noticing habitual thoughts and behaviours, clients can shape a vision of a workable solution and take steps toward it.
He has observed that suffering and life challenges can act as prompts to examine deeper questions of identity and purpose. These concerns may take a trans-personal form and can be approached through an awakening rooted in present-centred intentional awareness.
Many people wonder whether therapy delivered online can make a real difference. For a range of common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or managing life transitions – online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person work for most common issues.
One major benefit is flexibility. People can connect with a therapist in the format that suits them best: video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to fit therapeutic work into busy lives and to maintain continuity when schedules or circumstances change.
All therapists involved in online practice are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they feel a different fit would be more helpful. Online therapy offers a viable route to receive support for everyday mental health and relationship concerns while tailoring access to individual needs and preferences.
