Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello, My name is Melissa Hurt and I hold a Clinical Social Worker license (LICSW). My background is just as unique as yours is and I cannot wait to come alongside you in your journey into finding more peace, joy, stability, whatever it may be that you are searching for!
I received my Master’s degree in social work primarily focused on macro social work issues, and upon graduating I pursued my clinical license. I love having a background in social work and understanding how systems impacts our lives, both big and small. I am attune to these things when I speak with people, because they matter. Our lives are shaped by our culture, our personal family stories and the choices we’ve made along the way. Every one is significant.
I have spent the last eight years working in disability services, primarily supporting a team of social workers. I love the aspect of support professionals and remaining connecting to the issues that folks face on the daily. I lead with compassion, strengths-focused, and creative alternatives, but mostly I believe that struggles help us grow and that when we begin to understand what we can learn from them we begin to move through them.
I also have experience working with young college professionals, primarily with a military background. Our veteran community will always be near and dear to my heart. I was a military spouse for many years and our family has lives around the globe. I have been humbled and inspired by the amazing cultures that make this world such a beautiful place. I have three teenagers and love building strong, healthy families. I enjoy talking about the blessings and challenges of long-term partnerships; having been married for over twenty years, and the journey of raising children together.
My approach to mental health stems from methodologies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, while a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach is always a great thread to any self-reflection. I think mindfulness and self-care are wonderful practices that are easy to infuse, but the real winner is finding out what works best for you. What is your inner voice saying it needs from you?
It would by my pleasure to journey alongside you and support you throughout whatever lies ahead. I see myself as a trusted confident and someone who will be honest with you, and compassionate towards you, and your biggest cheerleader!

Melissa Hurt is a Minnesota-licensed clinical social worker who brings both clinical training and a systems-focused background to her work. She earned a master’s degree in social work with a primary emphasis on macro social work issues, and after graduating she pursued her clinical license. Her Minnesota clinical social work license reflects advanced training in therapeutic practice (LICSW, license number 26480).
Melissa has spent the last eight years working in disability services, supporting a team of social workers and staying close to the day-to-day challenges people and support professionals face. She pays attention to how larger systems – cultural contexts, family histories, and life choices – shape experience, and she considers those influences when meeting with people because they matter.
Her clinical approach is rooted in compassion, a strengths-focused stance, and creative alternatives. She draws on methods such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy, while weaving cognitive behavioral techniques into self-reflection. Melissa values mindfulness and practical self-care and works with each person to discover what actually works best for them.
Melissa has experience supporting young college professionals, particularly those with military backgrounds, and she remains connected to the veteran community; she spent many years as a military spouse and has family who have lived around the globe. At home she has been married for over twenty years and is the parent of three teenagers, which informs her interest in building strong, healthy families and exploring the rewards and challenges of long-term partnerships.
She works with a wide range of concerns including stress and anxiety, relationship and family conflicts, depression, addictions, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related matters, parenting issues, anger management, self-esteem, career difficulties, coping with life changes, coaching, compassion fatigue, and ADHD. Melissa believes struggles can be opportunities for growth, and she aims to help people understand what their challenges can teach them so they can move through them with greater peace, stability, and joy. She sees herself as a trusted confidant who will be honest, compassionate, and a strong supporter throughout the work ahead.
For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or major life transitions – online therapy can be just as effective as traditional in-person care. Research and practice have shown that remote sessions work well for a wide range of everyday mental health needs.
One major benefit is flexibility. People can connect in the format that feels most comfortable and convenient for them: video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That adaptability makes it easier to fit therapy into busy schedules and maintain continuity during life changes.
Another advantage is access to licensed professionals and therapists who are trained to work remotely. If at any point someone wants a different fit, they can switch therapists. Online therapy offers practical, evidence-informed support that can be integrated into daily life while addressing common emotional and relational challenges.
