Kathy Allatt

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Hello, I’m Kathy, I am a caring and compassionate person and I understand first-hand how hard it can be to reach out for help and support. I want you to know that you are not alone and acknowledge the courage needed to take this first step in looking for support.
I really believe that the counselling process can help us to explore difficult situations, feelings and emotions at any point in our lives. It can also help us to understand ourselves better and provide strong foundations for our goals in life.

Sometimes life can take us by surprise and challenge us, and when that happens, we can often benefit from some additional support in order to understand the issues we are facing. Counselling can provide you with a deeper understanding of yourself as you work towards your goals. My role is to provide a welcoming, safe, judgement-free and professional environment so that together we can explore any issues you are facing.

I have significant experience working as a neonatal intensive care nurse supporting families to care for and bond with their sick or preterm babies. I understand that the neonatal journey is a rollercoaster of emotions and that transitioning from hospital to home can feel overwhelming. Exploring these feelings and fears within the counselling setting can help to understand the enormity of the challenges you have faced and explore how you can cope with the future. I have also supported many families with the loss of a baby. I believe that I can offer a space to guide parents through the grief and trauma of their devastating experience and support you to live alongside your grief.

My clinical experience within the NHS means that I understand how there is often a link between physical illness and our mental well-being. Having worked clinically throughout the pandemic I have a deep understanding of the pressures that healthcare workers are facing and feel that I could support you if you are struggling with work related issues.

I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor and work with the person-centred model of therapy. I am caring, compassionate and empathic person and feel that these qualities help me to connect with people and develop therapeutic relationships which enable us to connect on a deeper level. I will create a space where you are safe to share without the fear of judgement.

I understand that seeking counselling is difficult and may be daunting, I would like to reassure you that I have been in the same position and understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help.

About

Kathy Allatt is a caring and compassionate therapeutic counsellor who understands first-hand how difficult it can be to reach out for help and support. She acknowledges the courage it takes to look for support and aims to make that first step feel understood.

She believes the counselling process can help people explore difficult situations, feelings and emotions at any stage of life. Through therapy she works with clients to increase self-understanding and build firmer foundations for personal goals.

When life feels challenging or takes people by surprise, Kathy offers additional support to help clarify the issues being faced. Her role is to provide a welcoming, safe, non-judgemental and professional environment where together with clients she can explore the concerns that matter to them.

Kathy has substantial experience as a neonatal intensive care nurse, supporting families to care for and bond with sick or preterm babies. She recognises that the neonatal journey can be a rollercoaster of emotions and that the transition from hospital to home may feel overwhelming. Working through these feelings and fears in counselling can help people understand the scale of what they have been through and consider ways to cope moving forward.

She has also supported many families after the loss of a baby and offers a space to help parents navigate the grief and trauma of that experience, supporting them to live alongside their grief.

Having worked clinically within the NHS, Kathy understands the links between physical illness and mental well-being. Her clinical work throughout the pandemic gives her a deep awareness of the pressures healthcare workers face, and she is able to support people who are struggling with work-related issues.

As a qualified therapeutic counsellor who works with the person-centred model, Kathy draws on qualities of care, compassion and empathy to form therapeutic relationships that enable deeper connection. She aims to create a space where clients feel safe to share without fear of judgement and appreciates how daunting seeking counselling can be, having been in the same position herself.

Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

Many people ask whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or coping with life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.

One major benefit is flexibility – people can choose the format that fits their life and comfort level, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to include therapy alongside work, family and other commitments.

Therapists who offer online work are licensed professionals, and if someone feels the need for a different match they can switch therapists at any time. For many people, online therapy provides a practical, accessible way to get consistent support while working toward their goals.
