Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello and welcome to my profile.
www.betterhelp.com/karen-bell
My name is Karen Bell and I am a qualified counsellor in the UK. I am a person-centred counsellor (also known as Rogerian, after Carl Rogers). That means how you feel is my priority, I care about your needs and what you bring to your sessions is not judged.
I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP).
I have been working in counselling for over 16 years.
My experience consists of working as a counsellor in a GP surgery, working for Someone Cares as a trauma counsellor with clients who are suicidal, self-harm and have experienced child sexual abuse and working for Northumbria Police as an Occupational Health Counsellor specialising in trauma and EAP, which gave me a wealth of experience in working with stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, bereavement and other losses.
Dealing with life’s stresses can get on top of us and counselling is an ideal way forward. People have many ways of coping and this can often lead to habits and addictions. If your issue is not listed, please still make contact. Talking therapy is statistically proven to lead to optimum mental health.
If you have been a victim of narcissistic abuse and/or gaslighting, you have come to the right place. It is not your imagination.
Regardless of gender or sexuality, culture or religion, you are welcome to access my service.
If you have one of the protected characteristics you are absolutely welcome. You are in good company if you are on the spectrum or have ADHD and please tell me all about your needs, wants and special interests.
I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without judgement.
You are never wasting my time.
Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
Counselling via chat, phone, and especially video is very powerful.
I look forward to meeting you and working with you very soon.
Kind regards,
Karen

Karen Bell is a qualified counsellor based in the United Kingdom who works using a person-centred approach – often called Rogerian therapy after Carl Rogers. This approach means a client’s feelings and needs take priority, and what a person brings to sessions is met without judgement.
She is a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP) and has 18 years of experience in counselling. Her background includes work as a counsellor in a GP surgery, providing trauma counselling for Someone Cares with clients who are suicidal, who self-harm, and who have experienced child sexual abuse, and serving Northumbria Police as an Occupational Health Counsellor specialising in trauma and employee assistance programmes. These roles have given her substantial experience in supporting people with stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, bereavement and other losses.
Her practice covers a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, addictions, relationship difficulties, trauma and abuse, depression, LGBT and family issues, grief, intimacy-related concerns, eating and sleeping problems, parenting and anger, self-esteem, career issues, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, and ADHD. She also works with those affected by narcissistic abuse and gaslighting and affirms that such experiences are not imagined.
Karen welcomes people regardless of gender or sexuality, culture or religion, and those with protected characteristics are explicitly encouraged to access her service. She is open to working with people who are on the spectrum or who have ADHD and invites them to share their needs, wants and special interests so their care can be tailored appropriately.
She creates an open, safe and non-judgemental space where thoughts and feelings can be explored. Counselling is offered via chat, phone and especially video, and she encourages anyone who feels ready to take the first step toward a more fulfilling life to make contact. She emphasises that people are never wasting her time and that seeking help takes courage; she is available to support clients through that process.
Please note that this is not an emergency service. If someone cannot wait for a session they should contact the Samaritans on 116 123, call emergency services on 999 in the UK, or go to A & E.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most people.
A major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the format that suits them best, whether by video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it simpler to fit therapy into a busy life and to meet with a therapist from wherever a person is located.
Each therapist offering online sessions is a licensed professional, and clients are able to change therapists if they feel a different fit would be better. For many people, online therapy provides an accessible and effective way to address everyday mental health concerns while keeping appointments convenient and manageable.
