Karen Ball welcomes visitors and recognizes that deciding to seek counselling is an important first step. She supports people facing confusing or difficult situations - including anxiety, stress, depression, painful losses, bereavement, trauma, difficult decisions and the need for change - and provides a calm, supportive space to explore those experiences.
Karen believes everyone has the capacity to cope with crisis, resolve problems, develop personal insight and make choices, and that support and encouragement can make a real difference when things are hard. She offers a confidential, supportive environment where clients can talk about what they are experiencing and consider the options available to them as they work through change.
She works with individuals, couples, families and groups according to need, and is a specialist in bereavement and loss of any kind - including loss of pets, career or lifestyle. She is also a Relate-trained counsellor who specialises in supporting couples at times of difficulty.
Karen is a fully qualified counsellor, supervisor and trainer, and is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She trained at Anglia Ruskin University, completing a BSc (Hons) degree course in Integral Counselling that covered the main theoretical models. Rather than relying on a single approach, she tailors her work to each person and their particular needs.
She offers Creative Therapy for clients who find it hard to put their experience into words, using creative methods to achieve outcomes similar to talking therapy. As a qualified supervisor she provides supervision and personal therapy for qualified counsellors, trainees and other healthcare professionals, working individually or with groups. As a trainer and tutor she delivers programmes in counselling, supervision, bereavement and creative therapy to professionals and individuals seeking greater self-awareness and improved communication skills.
Her practice is based in a discreet residential area of Mayland and at the ExploringUcounselling premises in Sudbury.
