Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I began my working career as an elementary school teacher. Together, my students and I worked on academic goals. I soon noticed that learning issues of some of my students stemmed from relationship problems at home and at school. This effected learning behaviors often producing non-compliance, anger, depression, and anxiety for these children. These behaviors, sometimes with diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health issues, were usually not being addressed clinically and were taking a toll on their academic progress.
I continued my education in counseling to better understand these learning barriers so that I could assist children and their parents. As I learned, I gained knowledge and skills to not only help children and parents, but also to help adults and families to navigate life’s problems and to attain their goals.
Goals for the counseling process are associated with maintaining healthy relationships as well as adapting various changes that can produce a positive impact upon our lives. During therapy, my clients are made aware of the power they possess, how to dodge problems, how to accomplish goals, and how to perceive life in a positive manner.
I now realize that I cared for my students more than for their academic progress. I cared about their personal well-being. I wanted them to feel productive and capable. I wanted them unencumbered by life’s problems but to have the resilience to overcome their deep seeded issues that affected their lives as a whole. I am interested most in sharing what I have learned to influence people reach their goals.
It would be a privilege to assist you in this work.

Joyce Clark Reid began her professional life as an elementary school teacher, working directly with students to reach academic goals. Over time she observed that some learning challenges were rooted in relationship difficulties at home and at school, which often led to behaviors such as non-compliance, anger, depression, and anxiety that hindered classroom progress.
Motivated to address these underlying issues, she pursued additional training in counseling so she could better support children and their parents. As her skills grew, she expanded her practice to assist adults and entire families in navigating life’s problems and pursuing personal goals.
Her counseling focuses on helping people maintain healthy relationships and adapt to changes that can produce positive outcomes. In therapy Joyce helps clients recognize their personal strengths, develop strategies to manage or avoid problems, set and achieve goals, and adopt more constructive ways of seeing their lives.
She is a licensed clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina and brings 30 years of experience to her work. Joyce has long cared about her students and clients beyond academics—she aims to help people feel capable, resilient, and less burdened by the deeper issues that affect daily life. She considers it a privilege to assist others in this work.
Many people wonder whether meeting with a therapist online can truly help. For a range of common concerns—such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or guiding life transitions—online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care.
One of the main benefits is convenience. Individuals can choose the communication method that best fits their needs and comfort, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility can make it easier to keep consistent appointments and integrate therapy into a busy life.
All therapists involved are licensed professionals, and if someone decides they would prefer a different clinician, switching to another therapist is an option. Online therapy offers an accessible way to receive professional support while maintaining the care model that works best for each person.
