Joyce Caroll is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who brings more than two decades of clinical experience to her work. She has provided therapy to individuals, couples and families in both private practice and community agency settings, and has served in supervisory and clinical leadership roles, including supervising over 100 interns and holding clinical director positions.
After a period in administration and supervision, Joyce returned to direct counseling work last year to focus on helping people with a wide range of concerns, from depression and anxiety to physical and emotional abuse, couples counseling and career-related challenges, including the fear and overwhelm many experienced during the pandemic.
Her counseling style balances compassion with clear guidance - she treats people with respect and sensitivity while offering straightforward feedback when it helps move work forward. Joyce integrates approaches from humanistic, cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, psychodynamic and mindfulness traditions, and has incorporated principles of Relational Life Therapy to help clients develop accountability, vulnerability and empathy. When applied in couples work, these methods often create conditions for relatively rapid change.
Joyce holds licensure to practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist in California and Nevada and has 22 years of professional experience. She welcomes clients who are ready to take the next step and looks forward to working collaboratively toward their goals.
Many people question whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and navigating life transitions, remote therapy has been found to be as effective as traditional in-person care for most people.
One major benefit is convenience - clients can choose the format that fits their needs, whether video sessions, phone calls, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to keep consistent appointments and integrate therapy into a busy routine.
Therapy offered online is provided by licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they decide a different fit would be more helpful. For those seeking support for everyday mental health challenges, online therapy can be a practical and effective option.
