Dr. Georgia Chatzitheodorou is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). She completed her Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at City, University of London in 2023 and holds an M.Sc. in Clinical Mental Health from University College London (UCL) awarded in 2017. Earlier training includes an M.A. in Psychology and relational skills from the University of Turin (2013) and a B.Sc. in Education and Social Sciences with a focus on Special Needs Education from the University of Macedonia, Greece (2011).
With six years of clinical experience, Dr. Chatzitheodorou has worked within the National Health Service (NHS) and third sector organisations, providing psychological assessment and treatment for adults presenting with a wide range of difficulties. She practises as an integrative psychologist, drawing together evidence-based approaches and tailoring therapeutic techniques to each person’s needs, circumstances, and goals.
Her therapeutic stance is warm and holistic, supporting clients to increase awareness and to care for different aspects of themselves - emotions, thoughts, bodily experiences, and relationships with self and others. Her training spans Humanistic therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Mindfulness, which she weaves into individualised treatment plans.
Dr. Chatzitheodorou has experience working internationally with people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds to identify recurring patterns that contribute to distress, cultivate self-compassion, strengthen resilience, and pursue greater inner calm. Areas of special interest include anxiety (work-related anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, health anxiety, phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - OCD), low self-esteem, personal development, shame and guilt, depression, bereavement and loss, motherhood and pregnancy-related concerns, and interpersonal difficulties across romantic relationships, family and friendships.
She offers sessions in English and Greek. Dr. Chatzitheodorou looks forward to meeting prospective clients and working with them in a therapeutic space defined by kindness, compassion, and respect.
