Erica Hayes

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a licensed professional counselor in Kentucky with 4 years of professional work experience. I graduated from University of the Cumberlands.

I have experience in helping clients with relationship issues, trauma and abuse, intimacy related issues, & depression. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I primarily utilize CBT, DBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and person centered approaches in therapy, although I occasionally pull from other modalities when it is best suited for my client. While this may be confusing to you, what it means is I have a lot of different approaches that I use depending on what we are working on together.

My availability on BetterHelp is very limited. Currently, my availability is only on Sunday afternoons. I do not have any other times available, so if Sundays do not work for you then I can help you get scheduled with another therapist.

Due to limited availability, I ask that you give 24 hours notice if you need to cancel an appointment. This allows time for other clients to take that time if needed. All no shows/late cancellations (less than 24 hours notice) will be reported to BetterHelp. No showing 2 appointments within a 6 month period will result in being referred for in person counseling or to another BetterHelp therapist. Late canceling and/or no showing 2 appointments within a 60 day period may result in being referred out, as well. While I understand that things come up, I do ask for 24 hours notice for cancellations. If you stop treatment/have a lapse in payment that causes you to become “inactive,” I may not have availability to see you if you return. I keep a small number of active clients and due to limited time I cannot hold places on my caseload for inactive clients.

Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started! I am excited to walk beside you and be your partner in this journey.

About

Erica Hayes is a licensed professional clinical counselor in Kentucky with four years of professional experience. She earned her degree from the University of the Cumberlands and holds KY LPCC 280899, which identifies her as a licensed professional clinical counselor in Kentucky.

She works with people dealing with relationship concerns, trauma and abuse, intimacy-related issues, depression, and life changes. As a female, non-religious therapist, she approaches each person with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.

Erica primarily uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, and person-centered approaches. She may also draw from other modalities when a different method better suits the work at hand, allowing treatment plans and session dialogue to be tailored to each individual’s needs.

Her availability on BetterHelp is limited and currently restricted to Sunday afternoons. If Sunday times do not fit a client’s schedule, she can assist with arranging care through another therapist.

Because of limited time, Erica requests at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations so others may use the appointment slot. No-shows and late cancellations with less than 24 hours notice are reported to BetterHelp. Missing two appointments within a six month period may result in referral to in-person counseling or to another BetterHelp therapist. Late cancellations or no-shows twice within a 60 day period may also lead to being referred out.

If a client stops treatment or has a lapse in payment that renders their account inactive, Erica may not have availability to see them upon return. She maintains a small active caseload and cannot hold places for inactive clients.

Erica acknowledges that beginning therapy takes courage and she is proud of clients who take that first step. She is glad to walk beside people and be a partner in their therapeutic journey.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people wonder whether remote counseling really helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions for most typical issues. One of the key benefits is flexibility. Clients can connect with therapists in the format that fits their life best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which can make it easier to maintain consistent care. Licensed professionals provide online therapy, and clients have the option to switch therapists if they need a different fit. For many people, the combination of accessibility and professional support makes online therapy a practical way to address everyday mental health and relationship concerns.
