David Baker has 12 years of experience supporting people through a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties. He offers a calm, professional approach and works with individuals and couples in both short and long term therapy.
Trained as a person-centred psychotherapist at Warwick University, David has additional training in transactional analysis and existential approaches. He is also qualified to provide online and telephone counselling and is a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
David practises in a pluralistic way, tailoring therapeutic methods to suit each person’s needs rather than relying on a single model. He works with issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, panic, addiction and compulsion, trauma, relationship difficulties, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, self-esteem and shame, grief, loss and bereavement.
He is experienced in helping clients navigate major life changes and the practical challenges these can bring. David currently sees clients in private practice in London, and - in response to the ongoing Covid situation - is offering sessions by telephone and online.
His background includes work in the voluntary sector, time with one of the largest UK mental health charities and experience with a leading bereavement counselling service. David identifies as a male, gay, older, non-religious and liberal therapist, and brings that lived perspective to his work with clients.
