Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello! Thank you for reading my profile. I am a marriage and family therapist (LMFT) licensed in California with over 20 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, issues pertaining to sexuality, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and issues pertaining to spirituality. I also helped many people who have experienced physical and sexual trauma or emotional abuse.
My counseling style is warm and down to earth. My goal is to create an environment where you feel at ease talking about what is in your heart and on your mind. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and psycho-dynamic counseling. Potential clients should know that I am Christian and have gone through a conversion experience. I am trained in Christian Counseling amd have come to believe that faith in God can bring about profound transformation.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is about teaming up to give you the insight, inner wisdom and motivation to make the changes you want in your life. We will come up with a plan to work on improving your current situation. Some people simply need a compassionate person to hear them out. Some people may want a concrete action plan with steps and advise on how to proceed. Our work is to collaborate and come up with a plan that would be most effective in meeting your needs.
On a practical matter, my office hours vary, however I generally have sessions every day of the week, morning and evening. Please look at my schedule to see if there is a time that works for you. I will respond to messages within 24 hours. If you would like a video chat session during a time that is not listed, please send me a message and we may be able to work out scheduling a time that works for both of our schedules.

“The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature.” Marcus Aurelius
I look forward to working with you!
Respectfully,
Christina Kohfield, LMFT 78980

Christina Kohfield is a California-licensed marriage and family therapist with 22 years of clinical experience. She has worked with people facing a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, addictions, trauma and abuse, career difficulties, depression, relationship and family conflicts, grief, intimacy issues, eating and sleeping disorders, parenting challenges, anger management, self-esteem struggles, bipolar disorder, ADHD, compassion fatigue, and transitions related to life changes and coaching.
Her counseling style is warm and down-to-earth, designed to help clients feel comfortable speaking frankly about what is on their minds and in their hearts. Christina blends cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and psychodynamic approaches to tailor therapy to each person – sometimes offering compassionate listening and validation, and other times working toward concrete action plans with step-by-step guidance.
She is Christian and has experienced a personal conversion; she is trained in Christian counseling and holds the view that faith in God can be a powerful part of personal transformation. In therapy she emphasizes collaboration – teaming up with clients to surface insight, inner wisdom, and the motivation needed to make desired changes, then creating a plan to improve their current situation.
On a practical level, Christina’s office hours vary, though she generally sees clients most days of the week, with morning and evening availability. She aims to respond to messages within 24 hours. If a video session is needed at a time that does not appear on the posted schedule, she invites prospective clients to send a message to explore alternate timing.
She often cites spiritual and philosophical reflections such as “…but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26; “Out of clutter, find simplicity. Out of discord, find harmony. In the middle of difficulty, lies opportunity.” Albert Einstein; and “The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature.” Marcus Aurelius. Christina looks forward to working with individuals who seek support and meaningful change.
For many common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and navigating life changes – online therapy has been shown to work as effectively as traditional in-person sessions. It can be an appropriate option for people seeking consistent therapeutic support for everyday mental health challenges.
One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can choose the communication method that best fits their needs and comfort level – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which makes it easier to arrange sessions around work, family, and other obligations.
Another advantage is accessibility: licensed professionals provide online therapy, and if a therapist does not feel like the right fit, clients typically have the option to switch to a different therapist. For many people, the combination of evidence supporting online treatment for common issues and the practical convenience of remote sessions makes online therapy a helpful path to getting started with mental health care.
