Christina Brown

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Christina (B.S., M.A., LCMHC) earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in English from Appalachian State University in 2013. Christina earned her Master of Art degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montreat College in 2017. Christina has eight years of counseling experience and has spent majority of her work in the field serving on an Assertive Community Treatment Team in Asheville, NC working with individuals with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses. She has been licensed from the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors to serve as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (License #13618). I enjoy being a wife and boy mom to my 3-year-old son. Lover of cats and dogs. I enjoy boating, hiking, snow skiing, cooking, live music, tarot and oracle card readings.

I have delivered services to diverse populations in the mental health field, ranging from children with severe, emotional and behavioral challenges to adults with severe and persistent mental illness, and co-occurring disorders. I utilize a multimodal approach based on the needs of each individual client. Counseling, to me, promotes the optimal well-being of the whole person and supports the person’s emotional, physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs. I view counseling as a way to assist clients in facing the reality of their lives by facilitating a safe space for their own self-discovery and growth. My techniques as a therapist focus on the client as the active participant for change and myself as the catalyst for collaboration, support, and guidance. I counsel from a strengths-based perspective, incorporating a blend of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction, Solution-Focused, and Expressive Arts Therapy; all of which embody a person-centered approach to healing.

*Please note on my schedule as of right now I am only offering evening session times as I work full-time elsewhere during daytime hours.

*Please note if you are more than 10 minutes late to a session, I will log out of the meeting room and it will be considered a “no show.”

About

Christina Brown (B.S., M.A., LCMHC) earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in English from Appalachian State University in 2013 and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montreat College in 2017. She holds an NC LCMHC license – Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor – under license number 13618.

With eight years of counseling experience, Christina has spent the majority of her clinical work on an Assertive Community Treatment team in Asheville, North Carolina, supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses. Her background includes work with a wide range of people, from children with severe emotional and behavioral challenges to adults managing persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders.

Christina approaches counseling through a multimodal, person-centered lens that emphasizes clients as active participants in their own growth. She practices from a strengths-based perspective and blends techniques such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction, Solution-Focused methods, and Expressive Arts Therapy to address each person’s unique needs. She views counseling as a way to support the whole person – emotional, physical, mental, social, and spiritual – while providing a safe space for self-discovery and change.

Christina balances her clinical work with family life as a wife and as a boy mom to a 3-year-old son. She is a lover of cats and dogs and enjoys boating, hiking, snow skiing, cooking, live music, and tarot and oracle card readings. She currently offers evening session times only, as she works full-time during daytime hours, and notes that arriving more than 10 minutes late to a session will result in logging out of the meeting room and the appointment being considered a no show.

Is Online Therapy the Right Fit for Your Needs?

Many people ask whether remote therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most people. One major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the format that works best for them, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety makes it easier to integrate therapy into a busy schedule and to choose the mode of communication that feels most comfortable. All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and clients may change therapists if they prefer a different fit. Online therapy offers a practical way to access qualified care while accommodating individual needs and lifestyles.
