Hi, my name is Carmel. I am a Person-Centred Therapist and I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions. I am a fully qualified and registered member of the National Counselling Society and the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy and I maintain a high standard of professionalism by complying with their ethical framework and codes of conduct. I have significant experience of working with domestic abuse victims and I am trained in and have experience of working with bereavement. I am aware that a warm therapeutic working relationship between the counsellor and client is paramount and therefore strive to encourage and guide clients throughout this process by really listening, offering empathy and compassion and motivating them to be the people they were called to be.
My Christian belief and understanding of the dignity of the human person is foundational to my counselling practice. I have successfully worked with many clients with differing beliefs and cultures and without exception treat each and every person equally, respectfully and as unique individuals. I am able to provide a confidential space to talk and my hope is that my clients will feel heard, valued and understood. I know from experience that individual counselling can help with personal issues in life such as anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, addictions, relationship difficulties, bereavement and many others. For this reason I see counselling as a vocation and I am passionate about helping others and making a difference to the lives of my clients.
