Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
My therapy career journey started in 1980 when I became a Case Manager working with individuals dealing with severe physical disabilities. At that time I was fresh out of undergraduate school and was seeking experience in the helping professions. My mother was a Social Worker and provided community services in the small town I grew up in and I was carrying the torch so to speak. I graduated with my MSW in 1991 and began working for a County mental health program in my state that provided services to people suffering from severe mental health issues and that had become homeless. This therapy experience provided me with first hand treatment support for a variety of issues. Including depression, PTSD, anxiety, thought disorders, etc. I became a generalist with a knowledge of treatment for numerous mental health problems. What I learned more than anything throughout it all though is that treating people with respect and dignity along with listening and hearing what they needed and trying to meet those needs was crucial to any type of therapy success. I continue to believe in this mindset and will do my upmost best to find solutions and provide the specific support and answers for each person I work with. In order to teach them how to better cope and reduce the impact of mental health issues they feel are impacting their lives in a negative way.

Carlos Camarena began his helping-career in 1980 when he worked as a Case Manager supporting people with severe physical disabilities, starting that role soon after finishing his undergraduate studies. His decision to enter the helping professions was influenced by his mother, who worked as a social worker providing community services in the small town where he was raised, and he carried that commitment forward into his own career.
He earned a Master of Social Work in 1991 and then joined a county mental health program that provided services to people with severe mental health issues who had become homeless. That work offered direct treatment experience for a range of conditions, including depression, PTSD, anxiety, and thought disorders, and helped him develop into a generalist with broad knowledge of mental health treatment approaches.
With 30 years of professional experience, Carlos practices as a licensed clinical social worker in Kansas. Throughout his career he has prioritized treating people with respect and dignity, listening carefully to what they need, and responding in ways that help them cope and reduce the negative impact of mental health challenges. He continues to apply that mindset, working to find practical solutions and to provide tailored support and clear answers for each person he helps.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly make a difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
A key benefit is flexibility – clients can meet with a therapist in the format that suits them best, whether that means video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety of options makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and maintain continuity of care.
Therapists offering online services are licensed professionals, and if a different fit is needed it is possible to switch providers. For many people, the combination of proven effectiveness and practical flexibility makes online therapy a viable option for addressing everyday mental health concerns.
