Carey Buchanan is a registered counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and a clinical social worker registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). With 17 years of therapeutic experience, she has worked with a broad range of mental health concerns and relationship issues across different settings.
She offers a compassionate, accepting space where people can explore difficulties in their lives and relationships in a non-judgmental environment. Carey has substantial experience delivering both face-to-face and online therapy, and her background includes work within CAMHS, UK social care, and private practice supporting individuals, couples and children.
Her therapeutic approach is flexible and informed by ongoing professional development. She draws on a variety of methods to suit each client’s needs, including dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred work, integrative and humanistic approaches, and sex therapy. Carey also provides parenting programmes when required and adapts her use of different theoretical perspectives to address the issues clients bring to therapy.
Many people ask whether remote therapy can genuinely help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and managing life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One key benefit is flexibility – clients can choose the mode of connection that suits them best, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life and to access support from different locations.
All therapists involved are licensed professionals, and if a client feels a different fit would be better, it is possible to switch therapists. Online therapy offers accessible, professional support that can align with many people’s needs and schedules.
