Amanda Loessberg

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Hello Friend,
You have taken a courageous first step toward wellness. Thank you for reaching out!

From this moment on, you are not alone.

Please note: I provide therapy via live chat, phone, and video/tele. I check my messages on the platform and respond within 24 hours.

When first asked what population I most enjoyed working with, my response was, “EVERY population”! I have lived in many places and worked with a diverse group of individuals since 2002. Each person has enriched my life and broadened my view of the human experience.
I practice EMDR, as it is an evidence-based treatment that I’ve witnessed helping many trauma survivors.

Life has its challenges and how have we coped with it all? Since infancy, we ask for help in one way or another. I wager to say that seeking a human connection is innate. That is the essence of therapy. I firmly believe we all need each other. We are all in this together.

Therapy is rooted in having a comfortable, positive relationship. You and I will be partners. I promise to be that warm person who listens and never judges you. Our sessions are a safe place, always!

Some personal things…

I grew up in mid-Michigan, from birth to age 20. I lived in San Francisco during my early twenties. I spent many years in Phoenix and also on the Gulf side of Florida (Seminole). Now I am in the Old West, Wyoming!! II have lived here for over 10 years. I love being in touch with nature and have loved every place I have lived. I am newly remarried and have two amazingly perfect children, both diagnosed with autism; ages 14 and 15. Part our of family is an 80-pound rescue dog named Grizzy Bear, an English Mastiff called Zeus, and an elderly cat from the shelter named Barry Catalow. ❤

Now for more education and experience-based information…

I am a University of Michigan graduate; Psychology 1999. I earned my Masters in Clinical Social Work degree from the University of South Dakota; 2018.

I have provided counseling services since 2002. My experience started with working in a residential program for females, ages 10-65, who suffered from eating disorders. From there, I moved on to provide crisis services and suicide prevention for 7 years. I have designed behavior plans for children and teens with troublesome behaviors and worked hands on with the families and group home staff. I provided crisis services to those whom were sexually assaulted or victims of other violent crimes. I have facilitated group therapy, individual therapy, couples therapy, and done cognitive testing. I have worked with toddlers, the elderly, and all ages in between. I worked with active duty military individuals and Veterans for 9 years. Thank you for your service, brave ones.
I have over 3 years of experience working in an acute psychiatric hospital. I am experienced in working with individuals with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, PTSD, and psychotic/delusional disorders. Though, I think diagnosis can be important, and even life-saving, in my role, I am more concerned about treating your symptoms and overall happiness than diagnosis.

My style is adapting to what my client needs. Among my styles are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT principles, and good old-fashioned compassionate listening.

Other things to know:
Please please please give me 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. I tend to keep a very busy schedule and I can use the hour to slide someone else in if I have some notice. Thank you!!!

Let’s get you feeling better!! I look forward to being a part of your journey!

About

Amanda Loessberg is a licensed clinical social worker practicing in Wyoming who brings 22 years of clinical experience to her work with individuals, families, couples, and groups. She offers therapy by phone, video, and live chat, monitors platform messages, and typically responds within 24 hours. Amanda uses EMDR as one of her evidence-based approaches for trauma, and she adapts her style to meet each client’s needs using tools from cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused work, DBT principles, and attentive, compassionate listening.

When asked which population she enjoys working with most, Amanda simply answered “EVERY population,” reflecting a long career spent with people across the lifespan. Since beginning counseling in 2002, she has worked in residential programs serving females with eating disorders, provided seven years of crisis and suicide prevention services, designed behavior plans for children and teens, and delivered crisis support for survivors of sexual assault and other violent crimes. Her experience includes group and individual therapy, couples work, cognitive testing, and direct care from toddlers through older adulthood.

Amanda spent nine years supporting active duty service members and veterans and has more than three years of experience in an acute psychiatric hospital. She has worked with a wide range of clinical presentations including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, PTSD, and psychotic or delusional disorders. While Amanda recognizes the importance of diagnosis, she focuses primarily on treating symptoms and improving overall wellbeing.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan (1999) and a Master of Clinical Social Work from the University of South Dakota (2018). Amanda is licensed to practice clinical social work in both Wyoming and Washington, and she draws on that training and two decades of practice when supporting clients through stress, anxiety, family conflict, trauma and abuse, parenting challenges, depression, LGBT issues, relationship and intimacy concerns, grief, sleep difficulties, self-esteem struggles, bipolar disorder, ADHD, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue.

Amanda is a lifelong traveler who grew up in mid-Michigan, lived in San Francisco in her early twenties, spent years in Phoenix and on Florida’s Gulf Coast, and has made Wyoming her home for over a decade. She is newly remarried and a parent to two children, ages 14 and 15, both diagnosed with autism. Their household also includes rescue pets: a dog named Grizzy Bear, an English Mastiff called Zeus, and an elderly shelter cat named Barry Catalow.

Clients can expect a warm, nonjudgmental partner in therapy and a safe space to explore challenges. Amanda asks that clients provide 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling when possible, as that allows time to offer the appointment to another client. She looks forward to supporting people on their path toward greater wellbeing.

Is Online Therapy the Right Fit for Your Needs?

For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life transitions – online therapy can be just as effective as traditional in-person care. Research and clinical experience support its use for these types of issues, and many people find it produces meaningful results.

One of the most practical benefits is flexibility. Clients can connect with a therapist using the mode that suits them best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule.

Therapists who provide online care are licensed professionals, and clients may choose to switch providers if they are looking for a different fit. This format can make therapeutic support more accessible while preserving the core elements of effective treatment and the therapeutic relationship.
