Elizabeth Stanley

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Hi. My name is Elizabeth and I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. I am also a certified school counselor and recently transitioned to BetterHelp full-time after working as a counselor at a high school. I have been working as a counselor for 9 years, primarily in the school setting. I have helped my students with issues such as family problems, academic struggles, relationship issues, trauma/abuse, ADHD, autism, LGBT-issues, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, grief, and suicidal ideation. Before working as a counselor, I was an elementary teacher for 6 years.

I have experience working with adults and adolescents. I have been a counselor on Better Help for 3 years now and have loved seeing my clients understand themselves better and improve their mental health. This is why I have transitioned to working with BetterHelp full-time. I feel comfortable counseling people from a variety of backgrounds, especially those whose backgrounds are different than my own. My entire professional career has been spent with a primarily Hispanic population, but I am comfortable with other cultures, as well.

I am a big fan of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Solutions-focused therapy, but I try to cater my counseling to each client, so I often incorporate different counseling philosophies as needed. As a school counselor, I had many duties not related to counseling. I joined BetterHelp, so I could use my counseling skills to help more people. I am looking forward to meeting with clients and working together to improve their mental health. I also know how hard it can be to find a time to meet with a counselor, so I offer limited after-work sessions, for your convenience, in addition to 8am-5pm sessions.

I believe my clients are the experts on their own lives and I want to work with them to improve their contentment, coping skills, and mental health. I believe it is very important and beneficial to have a nonjudgmental, unbiased person to talk to. This is one of the best parts of counseling. I often use humor to lighten the mood when counseling. I find this helps grow my relationships with my clients. Congratulations on making the first step towards counseling by checking out this website. I would love to work with you.

About

Elizabeth Stanley is a licensed professional counselor in both Texas and Arizona and a certified school counselor who recently transitioned to full-time online practice with BetterHelp after serving as a high school counselor. She has nine years of experience as a counselor, primarily working in school settings, and she previously taught elementary school for six years.

She has supported students and clients with a wide range of concerns including family conflicts, academic struggles, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, ADHD, autism, LGBT matters, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, grief, and suicidal ideation. Elizabeth works with both adolescents and adults and has been providing counseling through BetterHelp for three years prior to moving to full-time practice there.

Much of her professional career has involved a primarily Hispanic population, and she is comfortable working with people from different cultural backgrounds. She favors cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused approaches, but adapts her methods to fit each person’s needs and often blends different therapeutic philosophies as appropriate.

Elizabeth values the idea that individuals are experts on their own lives and aims to help clients increase contentment, build coping skills, and improve overall mental health. She believes a nonjudgmental, unbiased space is central to good counseling and sometimes uses humor to ease the process and strengthen the therapeutic relationship. To accommodate varied schedules she offers limited after-work sessions in addition to typical 8am-5pm availability.

She looks forward to meeting people who are ready to take the next step toward better mental health and welcomes the opportunity to work collaboratively toward meaningful change.

Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life transitions – online therapy has been found to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care. It can be an effective option for people seeking help with these issues.

One major benefit of remote therapy is flexibility. Individuals can connect with therapists in the format that best suits them – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which makes it easier to fit counseling into busy schedules.

All therapists are licensed professionals, and people can choose to switch providers if they want a different fit. Online therapy offers an accessible way to work with qualified therapists while maintaining the same focus on evidence-based support for common mental health concerns.
