Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Ever heard of a counsellor that’s scared of having their own personal therapy? Sounds ironic right but it’s more common than you think. I’ll explain… I have always been afraid of embarking on the healing journey that you are currently considering. Why? The fear of being misunderstood; judged for my actions; embarrassment from unpicking my past and (of course), the absence of a rewind button to take back something I may regret in the future. In my first therapy session, I felt like I had said too much just by saying my name. I was sweating profusely, talking myself out of engaging and feeling generally overwhelmed by the endless possibilities that could come from opening up to this ‘stranger’ that I had found online. What if I didn’t like her? What if she didn’t like me? These doubts and worries, whilst valid, are what continue to hold us back from getting the help that we need. I get it, asking for help is scary – it took me nearly 3 years to fully engage with the process. For a lot of us, this is new and for some of us, this is a familiar place of trauma. But why dwell in trauma when you can live in peace? Why wait until it becomes too uncomfortable to breathe when you can start your journey to self-love, self-care, self-awareness and self-exploration, right now?
During the coronavirus pandemic, counselling had to drastically adapt to the growing demand for therapeutic support and therefore made a transition towards offering both face-2-face and remote services. Funnily enough, two of my other concerns around counselling were the face-to-face aspect and need to travel. Now with technology you can experience personal therapy from the comfort of your own home or car (a personal favourite of mine); the choice is completely up to you. Help is just one click away…

Esther Enaruwe understands how daunting the idea of starting therapy can be. She admits she once feared beginning her own healing journey – worried about being misunderstood, judged, or embarrassed by unpacking the past, and anxious about not being able to rewind anything she might later regret. Her first session left her sweating and talking herself out of engaging, overwhelmed by the prospect of opening up to a stranger found online and wondering whether either of them would like the other.
Those doubts, she notes, are common barriers to getting help. Esther relates to the fear of asking for support – it took her nearly three years to fully commit to the process. For many people therapy is unfamiliar, and for some it can reawaken trauma. She encourages choosing growth over staying stuck and beginning a path toward self-love, self-care, self-awareness, and exploration now rather than waiting until things become too hard to bear.
When the coronavirus pandemic changed how counselling was offered, Esther adapted by providing both face-to-face and remote options. Two of her earlier concerns were the need to travel and the face-to-face setting, but technology now lets clients attend sessions from home or even from a car if that feels most comfortable. Help, she reminds people, is just one click away.
Esther has 3 years of experience and is based in the United Kingdom.
Many people wonder whether remote counselling truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most people.
One major benefit is flexibility – clients can choose the format that fits their life and comfort level, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule or to attend from a preferred location.
Each therapist offering online sessions is a licensed professional, and clients have the option to switch to a different therapist at any time if they need a better fit. For many, remote work removes practical barriers and creates new possibilities for consistent support.
