Counselling is about relationships: your relationships with friends, family, colleagues and yourself, and also your therapeutic relationship with your counsellor. I will work in partnership alongside you, supporting you to explore your difficulties and helping you to achieve your aims or goals.

Our counselling relationship will be non-judgemental, genuine, honest and open, which is also made safe by confidentiality. You will be listened to and respected. I will aim to understand your world as you experience it, see things from your perspective and work with you at a pace that is comfortable and safe for you. Through this shared journey comes understanding and insight, which I believe is the first step towards change or acceptance.

As an alternative to talking therapy, I can use creative exploration to meet the communication needs of each unique person.

If you feel counselling could be helpful for you, then the next step is to contact me for a consultation session.
I believe the key to successful therapy is that client and counsellor are able to connect with each other. The relationship jointly developed between client and counsellor is at the heart of the counselling process and very important to the outcome of therapy therefore; I believe it is very important to find a counsellor with whom you feel comfortable and who you feel you can trust.
Why Counselling?
Life is full of change, however we often ignore or attempt to resist change either consciously or unconsciously. It is no wonder, because change can often feel like loss, or a giving up of something. However, understanding change as a normal part of life, and embracing the challenges it brings will ultimately help us to grow and tap into inner resources we never thought we had. In this sense, change can be a positive thing in our lives..

Take the first step…

Whether you are just curious about your life and where it is going or want insight into your behaviour and relationships with others; have had to deal with a difficult issue like a sudden loss, trauma or bereavement; have been experiencing more stress or anxiety in your life than usual; have difficulty balancing the demands and pressures of work and life; or just want some focussed, expert help on life goals and your future path, then Counselling may be for you.

She describes counselling as being about relationships – relationships with friends, family, colleagues and oneself – and importantly the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client. She works in partnership with people to explore difficulties and to help them achieve their aims or goals.

Michelle’s therapeutic style is non-judgemental, genuine, honest and open, supported by confidentiality. She aims to understand each person’s world from their perspective, to work at a pace that feels comfortable and safe, and to use creative exploration as an alternative to talking therapy when appropriate.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. One of the main benefits is flexibility – people can choose the way of connecting that suits them best, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility can make it easier to fit therapy into a busy life and to maintain continuity of care. Therapists offering online work are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they would prefer a different fit. For many people, online therapy provides an accessible and practical route to get support and make progress on the issues that matter to them.
