Stanley Okafor

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Hello, I am Stanley Okafor BACP registered psychotherapist/counsellor and accredited member APT, with over 15 years experience at treating emotional and psychological issues. I divide my time between private practice, forensic setting and the NHS, where I am senior/lead therapist for a large NHS Trust. Am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and accredited/qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT). I have extensive experience of assessing and treating people from variety of backgrounds whose problems range from severe and complex to more easily treatable problems including: Self-esteem, anxiety, depression, historic child hood trauma, abuse, domestic violence victims, addictions, bereavement, self harm, suicidal ideation, personality problems, family and relationship concerns, anger issues. I also facilitate an anger management group within the forensic setting.

I offer individual 1:1 evidence-based psychotherapy by working primarily using the CBT approach but integrating effective aspects of others such as multicultural or interpersonal where necessary. My approach is tailored to accommodate each individuals needs to match their uniqueness. And so to give an opportunity for an efficient therapy process that leads to positive and long lasting outcomes.

In line with the ethical frameworks of the professional bodies I belong to, I provide a confidential, secure, safe, non-judgmental , and unbiased space where we explore and collaboratively work together to understand your own difficulties and concerns. I am friendly, warm, honest, genuine, empathic and I place particular emphasis on the importance of establishing rapport and trust in therapeutic relationships. I will treat you with the utmost respect, kindness and create a comfortable atmosphere for you to be able to open up as much as you want to.

During our first consultation I will carry out a clinical assessment, in the session I will ask you questions with the aim to to explore and determine your problems, goals treatment. But also, during this assessment I will carry out a risk assessment with a clinical judgment whether you are at risk or not and the severity.

I truly understand that sometimes taking that first step requires a lot of boldness, i have been there myself. I also know that for some people they want it fixed right away, but mental health unfortunately could be even far more complex than a physical health issues. Therefore, I believe that therapy is a process, the healing process is a journey in most cases and not a destination. So if you are looking for a quick fix, to be honest I probably wont be the right therapist for you.

I truly believe that mental health plays just as important a role as physical health in helping you lead a fulfilling life. So, it’s time to get your life back on track, don’t hesitate, get in touch today and you will be truly grateful you did.

“Nothing is impossible for those who believe”.

About

Stanley Okafor is a BACP-registered psychotherapist and counsellor (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and an accredited member of APT, with over 15 years of experience supporting people with emotional and psychological difficulties. He splits his time between private practice, a forensic setting and the NHS, where he works as a senior/lead therapist for a large NHS Trust.

He is a qualified integrative counsellor and an accredited, qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT). He has extensive experience assessing and treating people from a variety of backgrounds for problems ranging from severe and complex to more readily treatable issues, including self-esteem, anxiety, depression, historic childhood trauma, abuse, domestic violence, addictions, bereavement, self-harm, suicidal ideation, personality difficulties, family and relationship concerns, and anger. He also runs an anger management group within the forensic setting.

Stanley provides individual one-to-one, evidence-based psychotherapy, working primarily with CBT while integrating useful elements from other approaches such as interpersonal and multicultural methods when appropriate. His work is tailored to each person’s needs to promote an efficient process that aims for positive, lasting outcomes.

In line with the ethical frameworks of his professional bodies, he offers a safe, non-judgmental and unbiased space in which to explore difficulties collaboratively. He describes himself as friendly, warm, honest and empathic, and places particular emphasis on building rapport and trust so clients are treated with respect and kindness and can engage at their own pace.

During the first consultation he carries out a clinical assessment to explore presenting difficulties, clarify goals and consider treatment options. That assessment also includes a risk assessment and a clinical judgment regarding any level of risk.

Stanley recognises that seeking therapy can require courage and that many people hope for a quick fix; he emphasises that therapeutic work is often a process and a journey rather than an immediate solution, and he may not be the right therapist for someone seeking only a rapid short-term fix.

He believes mental health is as important as physical health for leading a fulfilling life and welcomes contact from people ready to begin work together.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people ask whether online therapy can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or navigating life changes, evidence shows that remote therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person sessions. One of the main benefits is flexibility – clients can connect in the way that best fits their lives, whether by video call, telephone, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to maintain continuity of care around work, family and other commitments. All appointments are provided by licensed professionals and, if someone feels another approach would be a better fit, it is possible to change therapists. Online therapy offers a practical option for many people seeking support while retaining professional standards of care.
