Shonna Burnett is a licensed professional counselor practicing with more than 15 years of clinical experience. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in professional counseling, and she is licensed to practice in both Georgia and Mississippi, holding credentials GA LPC LPC007327 and MS LPC 2339.
She provides care for people coping with stress, anxiety, addictive behaviors, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, depression, trauma and abuse, grief, family conflict, intimacy-related concerns, sleep difficulties, anger management, career challenges, bipolar disorder, and compassion fatigue. Her work includes supporting adults, children and adolescents in individual, family, and group settings.
Burnett’s clinical background spans a variety of treatment environments – including work in the Department of Corrections and juvenile justice systems, as well as inpatient, acute, outpatient, and residential care settings. These experiences inform a practical, flexible approach to therapy.
She frequently draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) because they often fit the needs of the people she serves, but she remains open to using other models, tools, and skills when a different approach better meets a client’s goals. Shonna aims to create an open, nonjudgmental space where thoughts and feelings can be shared, and she encourages clients to take courageous steps toward a more fulfilling life. She emphasizes meeting people where they are and works collaboratively to help them pursue positive, sustainable change.
Many people wonder whether meeting with a therapist online can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person care for most individuals.
One major benefit is convenience and flexibility – clients can connect in the way that feels most comfortable, choosing from video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and to maintain consistent support.
Sessions are provided by licensed professionals, and if someone feels a different therapeutic fit would be better, it is possible to switch therapists. Online therapy can be a practical option for many people seeking support for everyday mental health concerns and life transitions.
