Christine Barnes

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a seasoned, clinical social worker with ten years of experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs, where I treated veterans with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. Prior to my work at the VA, I worked in nursing homes and community mental health centers where I provided psychotherapy and crisis intervention to individuals of all different ages and backgrounds.

First and foremost, I consider myself to be a trauma therapist, and I subscribe to the notion that most diagnoses are rooted in adverse experiences from the past. I’ve been described as “blunt” and “caring” by my clients due to my no-nonsense – yet compassionate – approach to therapy. I consider the greatest compliment that I’ve ever received to be “You are the person that tells me the truth that I don’t want to hear.” If you appreciate being called out when you’re not being completely honest with yourself, then I just might be the right therapist for you.

I look forward to working with you!

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

A common question is whether remote therapy truly helps. For many everyday concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and major life transitions – online therapy can be as effective as in-person treatment for addressing those issues.

One of the chief advantages is flexibility. People can meet with therapists by video call, by phone, via live chat, or through in-app messaging, choosing the format that fits their schedule and comfort level. This range of options makes it easier to include regular sessions in a busy life.

Therapists who provide online care are licensed professionals, and individuals may switch providers at any time if they want a different fit. For common mental health needs and life challenges, remote therapy offers an accessible and practical way to get support.
