Dr. Vaughn DeCoster understands that life can feel busy and complicated, and that people often judge themselves harshly while doing the best they can with what comes their way. Seeking help is a courageous first step, and he welcomes those who are ready to move toward a more satisfying, meaningful, and happier life.
He is a doctoral-level social worker and a licensed clinical social worker in Arkansas (AR LCSW 3738-C) with 31 years of clinical experience. Over his career as both a therapist and a university professor, he has supported people dealing with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, intimacy-related concerns, compassion fatigue, LGBT matters, grief, anger management, self-esteem challenges, career difficulties, depression, coping with life changes, coaching needs, and ADHD.
Dr. DeCoster uses a wide range of tools aimed at emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, including some interventions that incorporate photography. He approaches therapy as a creative, collaborative process that recognizes the client as the expert on their own life, and he partners with clients to try different strategies until they find what works.
Mindful of how valuable time is, he offers engaged, compassionate support intended to foster healing, build strength, and increase resilience. He adapts sessions and treatment plans to fit each person’s unique situation and applies evidence-based approaches. He invites prospective clients to have a conversation and explore what can be accomplished together.
For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes – online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions. It can be a practical option for people looking to address these issues without sacrificing quality of care.
One of the main benefits is flexibility. Clients can connect in the format that fits their needs at the time – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which makes it easier to include therapy in a busy schedule.
Sessions are provided by licensed professionals, and if someone feels they need a different match, they can switch therapists. For many people, online therapy offers an accessible, adaptable way to work on their mental health and life goals.
