I am a qualified MBACP registered Integrative Counsellor, with 9 years experience working in mental health.
I have worked with a wide range of clients including children, teens and adults that present with a variety of issues and concerns from all different backgrounds.
I specialise in treating relational issues, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma and emotional regulation issues.
My therapy approach is set in a person centred foundation, I believe building a therapeutic relationship by establishing trust and rapport is paramount. I am eclectic in the theories I use and depending on your needs I may use different theoretical approaches, such as – solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), attachment theory, transactional analysis, mindfulness, psychodynamic. Whichever approach we use we will focus on your abilities and skills to help you achieve your individualised goals.
When working with clients I strive to make the therapy experience genuine, positive and respectful. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in doing great things and overcoming challenges. Sophie Archer is a qualified MBACP registered integrative counsellor with 5 years of experience working in mental health.
She has supported children, teenagers and adults from diverse backgrounds who present with a wide range of concerns. Her areas of specialism include stress and anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, depression, addictions, LGBT-related issues, family and intimacy-related problems, eating and sleeping difficulties, parenting challenges, anger management, self-esteem work, career concerns, coping with life changes and ADHD.
Sophie’s practice is rooted in a person-centred foundation where establishing trust and rapport is central to the work. She draws on an eclectic mix of theories to meet each client’s needs – including solution-focused techniques, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), attachment theory, transactional analysis, mindfulness and psychodynamic ideas. Across approaches the focus remains on amplifying the client’s existing skills and resources to reach personalised goals.
In sessions Sophie strives to offer a genuine, positive and respectful experience, recognising that clients are the experts in their own stories and have strengths to draw on when facing challenges. She acknowledges the courage it takes to seek support and provides a non-judgemental presence for those aiming for change or simply looking for someone to listen.
